I think a lot If it is people who just blindly bought British products through the 70s out of some kind of perceived loyalty to brand or country now know Japanese cars are superior in every way to similar aged European options (with the exception of maybe ze Germans), so when it comes to 'investing' in a classic these days, they're looking at Japanese cars rather than sticking to the British market options as they have done in the past. This obviously drive up values of cars that are already rare. Supply/demand. It's a fashion and desirability thing too as well as lack of supply. I was raised on a diet of Playstation and Gran Turismo, not 70s British cars so I am much more keen to buy a Japanese car over a British one, plus I had my early driving experiences in cool Japanese cars too as they were (much) more affordable 10 years ago.
