Please help i know its to new but your help n knolage is really needed I bought a ldv motorhome cheap needing some work to use n tidy up so wr can go camping ehile i finish my commer then sell it on nxt year with the plan to make a few quid to put towards something else The guyi bought it off has lied through his teeth n everything he said was gone isant on top of the work i knew it needed . Its based on a mk6 tranny and has the 2.4t duratorque but its gutless and I'm certain its in limp mode the glow plug light has started flashing which ive read is a fault warning so ive bought a code reader and tried but after getting started it says link error I'm gonna chech wiring n fuses tomorrow any ideas are really appreciated Cheers phil

You really need to get the faults read
The 2.4 are usually good engines , so could be nothing

I think the convoy used the 75 ps TdDi variant as found in the BT fibreglass box vans, so it'll never be quick especially if someone has nailed half a house to it.

Was it this model that used to leak water into the ECU causing a range of faults? It would probably be worth checking around it for any sign of dampness especially as we have had some pretty hard rain recently.
What year is it? The earlier ones had the 2.5Di with a turbo and Lucas EPIC pump - they are non OBD compatible despite having the same plug and 99% of code readers will give the wrong codes.

Its a 2004 the ecu is on the under the dash passenger side It seems that only cetain readers will connect so gonna find somewhere local to plug it in Thamks again for all your help

Had it plugged in yesterday n the fuel pumps at fault Common n expensive fault as the pump has it's own ecu which goes faulty so 600 of a job Gutted but serves me right for trusting the seller!!

I would take it to another place, perhaps someone who specialises in Ford/Transit/Diesel. The rotatory pumps with the ECU on the top are an absolute rarity to go wrong, if you have a faulty one I'd be surprised. How DIY are you? I would clean out he EGR, check the fuel filter and work from there. Also 90hp was pretty gutless in the MK3 golf I can imagine with 2 tonnes to haul it will be glacially slow.

I used a 54 plate Luton with a tail lift model to go down to Mallorca and back again in the space of a week back in 2006. Initially, I hated it with a passion, by the time we got back to Norfolk i was in love with it. When you have sorted your running issues you should have a very willing performer that will charm you with its horrible seating position and ergonomics more suited to a hamster than a human. Brilliant vans!!
