Hi all here is my sons car. copied from my car club rustrashflyers they have been a good family for me but I love this site so thought you guys may like it I am a bit of a car hoarder and back in 2013 me and my wife sam was expecting our fist born son james so I thought I would get a new car to give him when older so we could work on it together. but our pans changed for the worst when james past away. I lost my car mojo but on the 1st of may 2015 we had harley jay and I pulled the cinq out of storage and brought harley home from the hospital in his very own car. we ran the car for a bit on the road and then got a family car. still suffering from the loss of james we saved up to move to cornwall and got the old cinq back on the road. here is how it looked when we got it we fitted lowering springs and alloy wheels. how it looks now. pic taken on our way to cornwall forgot to add when we got the car it had no mot so I had to weld a new rear panel in and a new wheel arch. gave it a good underseal to hopefully stop it rusting away update as of today had a bit of a car day today. adjusted the hand brake as the foot brake was getting bad. I had previously replaced all the rear brakes and hand brake cable but still was bad. I found out that the hand brake could be adjusted by moving the leaver so did that today. also put a rubber mount on the back box to stop it rattling. and put a new air filter on as the KnN filter that I had on there was getting old as had it on my old vr6 engine polo that I had done 50.000 miles so fitted the filter I had got for my old van on and can report it goes alot better now. also got pics of the rev counter and kill switch I fitted a few years ago

a sad story , hopefully one with a happy end though , hope cornwall is good for you. good move under sealing the car....chuck plenty of waxoyl into it too if you can , cornwall is hard on cars they can dissolve in front of your eyes , especially if you are near to the coast.
personally I would lift that filter a touch , the county council are lazy barstewards these days and don't like clearing roadside gulleys so we get a lot of standing water....you don't want to risk hydraulicing the engine.

Hi life is much better down here and yep cars do like to rust. The air filter has been on the car that low for a few years now and never had a problem plus the 899cc will struggle to pull any water up to the intake.
I plan on a engine upgrade when this one pops so the air filter will be moved then.
Next mods is doing the body work and a home respray in baby blue. there is some miner rust so got some rust remover and primer ready to go.

keep going with the treatment , the lesser spotted Cornish tinworms would love getting into there , once they smell oxidization they go into a feeding frenzy!

update me my wife and son harley went to see james for his birthday where he is buried at a family church in lowick northants so took his cinq. also picked my dad up on the way back so he could see our new place in Bude. unfortunately the cinq did not fancy the 300 mile drive and snapped its exhaust next to the cat about half a mile away from where we hit a big pot hole under a railway brige. we made it just into oxfordshire. waited for the AA who on a sunday could not find the parts needed to fix the car at the road side. first truck got us to taunton services next guy got us home back home it took us about 10 hours to get back the next day I started to see what the damage was and found hitting that pot hole it has broken the top mount on the drivers side and broke the gear box mount so dropped the engine down about 3". spent the 2 weeks my dad was staying with us fixing it so we could take him back home. as I had a bit of pipe laying around I got rid of the cat. it was well smashed after hitting the floor at speed anyway only problem we had taking my old man back home was the rear bumper trying to fall off on the drivers side so had to use some speaker wire to hold it up. since then we have got a car to use while we saved up for parts and found a local guy braking a cinq so going over on wednesday to pick up a front strut, gear box mount front exhaust pipe rear bumper and a better drivers door and wing. probably a few other bits aswell. sorry about the long post. I am putting it all on here so my boy can see what I have done when he is older. thanks for looking

I'm really sorry to hear that, but that's such a nice idea, and it's awesome your son will have a cool little car to drive and read about. Best of luck with it
Cheers, Drew

No need to apologise for long threads (as long as they have photos ) My goddaughter passed away at a young age and gave me a kick up the bum to do something with my kids.... so if he's into cars as he gets older, and he can help keep it on the road then he'll love it! And the thread as a time capsule for him, for later is really cool too Good work!

since hitting the big pot hole the drivers side front shock has not been right so today I took it all apart and yep its well had it. its only 6 months old and I can push the shock down with one finger so stuck a 2nd hand one on for now. hope the banging from that side stops now.
no pics as not much to look at.
in other news I have all the parts to replace the exhaust as the temp repair is starting to blow

got the old exhaust off the other day and ended snapping 2 studs on the manifold and 1 of the clamps. I got the manifold from the parts car that had one snapped so fixed that with a new bolt de catted the inside of the cat. cleaned and given a coat of paint and fitted. had to wait for parts in the post that came today that included a new gear box mount and I also fitted a new head light wire as the old one had melted put the standard back box on for now as the next job is to make the saxo back box I have fit the center of the bumper. not took it for a test drive yet but will tomorrow so I will get more pics

not much of a update. A couple of weeks ago we was asked by are good mates to spend a week at there place and look after the dogs as they live closer to james we said yes. first job to do was fit new bottom arms as I could see hitting that pot hole that the drivers side bush was pushed back and was looking old. Just two days before we set of in the cinq I got stopped and told the back box was to loud so have fitted the one I got of the parts car. It got us there no prob but on a day trip to my old mans place the clutch pedal stayed on the floor with a bag going from 4th to 5th gear only half a mile away from my mum and dads. Good old dad towed me home saying it was just like old times having to tow me back ha ha had a look to see what snaped and found this so had to leave the car there and get a new one posted out that came two days latter. we got home ok
