Hello, I have been a long time lurker here but have never posted, I wish my first post could be a better one! A friend of mine has had his 1962 Corvette stolen from a locked garage in the Romford, Essex area. The locks to the main gate and the garage were cut with an angle grinder. The car didnt run so must have been taken on a trailer, the garage was in a block of residential garages and was the only one broken in to. My friend has owned the car for 22 years so would really like to get it back. The car is very rare, having original fuel injection, a power hood and power windows. The exterior is Roman Rad with a black interior and white soft top. The reg plate on the car is VSU 724 VIN. 20867S104480 Engine Number. 2104480 FI215RF Block Casting Number 3782870.

Sad to see. Not 100% sure, but I remember my late grandfather mentioning this car nearly 20 years ago. He worked for Ford for 32 years, the last years in Dagenham. He lived in Elm Park, and am sure this was a car he showed me as a child. Hope the owner gets it back!

Going to be a very hard car to move on in the UK, being so rare. Wonder if it will end up in the Netherlands? Some better pics at the Corvette Club website... www.corvetteclub.org.uk/viewtopic.php?p=140798Just seen this on facebook... "new information from an anonymous source that the car is in a lockup garage in the Basildon/Billericay area. We have also been informed that the person who has it is a mechanic who is trying to sell it on"

It seems very amateurish if thats correct info, which I find reassuring in it being returned to the owner.

American cars are popular in the Netherlands. Old American cars are popular everywhere,so seemed a bit of a daft thing to say, narrowing it down to a specific country....🙃

Selling the car in the UK is going to hard as its well known. Sending it to the USA involves paperwork and customs. Selling to the Netherlands (the country that seems to love American classics even more than the UK) is possible via a few options - ferry, eurostar, container, etc.

No one heard an angle grinder? If I heard an angle grinder I'd assume it was someone doing some work somewhere rather than breaking and entering. Facebook update sounds positive, hope it's found.

Someone on my street is getting a new roof, there's been a grinder/saw/tool going for the last 4 days or so...

Seems like the $@"£ that stole it didn't have the ability to move it on. So glad it's been returned. I had faith this would be found.
