Really struggling with this - the old belt needs to come off, but I can't get enough slack on it. So far I've Undone (well, removed) the two 14mm bolts at the bottom of the pump Would out the 12mm adjuster pretty far There's movement, but not enough to get the belt off. The bolts on the pulleys themselves are just spinning the pulleys (obviously). I can't see where else there could be a bolt to remove???

You shouldn't even need to unbolt the PS pump... Usually undo the tensioner pinch bolt and wind it off.. Don't suuppose its maybe had a shorter belt forced on at some point? Does yours have A/C? Below is a several diagrams of the belt layouts on these engines. Usually a very very simple job. www.micra.org.uk/attachments/belts-gif.15404/

Mine is odd in that is has no idler - just the alternator, water pump and power steering pulley. I've read about some engines like this online. Got to the bottom if it though...
In order to get enough play in the water pump I had to undo a 3rd 12mm bolt hidden in a recess just above the top pulley. It was a very unpleasant job...glad I won't have to do it again any time soon!

Ahh yes, it looks like someone has been fiddling then, this is quite a common thing to do when the idler's go funny.
Frank on the Micra sport club is an absolute god when it comes to these little cars if there is anything you need sorting urgently.

Might explain how I've ended up with the wrong (far too long) alternator belt.
Thankfully that's a much quicker job.
