Greetings all, now then, i need help (I know, some of you knew that already!) Does anyone know what this wheel is from? as you no doubt can see its a 6-stud wheel, of presumably 16" diameter, and thats about all the information i have on it, apart from... I have two of them and they're still attached to their original front axle... They may even have brakes in those drums! They even both still have their original tyres... Goodness knows how old they are, but suspect they hold air in them that was originally put there in the early sixties! So about the FREE GIFT bit, if you would like this little lot, then it's yours for free, but it MUST be collected from Winchester, Hampshire by Tuesday 28 February 2017, as it will be collected by the scrapman early in the morning on Wednesday 01 March 2017 if it isn't! I hate throwing stuff like this away, and i suspect that someone out there knows what this is all from, and could use it, if that is you, come and get it! Also, some of you who are more Eagle-eyed may well have spotted the rear axle in the second picture. This is from an 'A' series Opel Manta, if you would like this, then it's also yours for free, but again, it MUST be collected by Tuesday 28 February 2017, as it will be collected by the scrapman early in the morning on Wednesday 01 March 2017!

I think I'm on to something...
My granddad had a trailer built on a car axle which had 3-stud wheels very similar to those ... I just need to work out what had a 6-stud version!

Arent Wolseley wheels 5 stud? I've got some 30s Wolseley wheels that are.
I think they are 30s, google pics show Morris 8 wheels as 6 stud so I'll agree with that, cant claim to have known though as I didnt have a clue.

The brakes are Girling, as used by Austin just pre-war and after the war too. Could be Austin Eight or Ten?

The brakes are Girling, as used by Austin just pre-war and after the war too. Could be Austin Eight or Ten? I cannot claim to be an expert on '30s British tin but my research justification is as follows (dons anorak)... My granddads old trailer, he always claimed, had Hillman Minx hubs & wheels (not sure if it had an axle between them right now but its rusting on a scrapheap at my parents' farm to this day). Anyway, the wheels are of that style - which I have now discovered are called 'Easiclene' & were supplied on a number of marques - but are only 3-stud. So I knew they weren't Hillman Minx... Now most pictures you find online, which positively identify the origin, show 'central' hubcaps fitted to cars from that era. However, I knew that during World War 2 a variety of makes were built with a standardised utility body & minimum 'frills' - & often appear without hubcaps - according to Wikipedia at least, there were Austin 8/10, Hillman Minx, Morris 10 & Standard 10/12 "Tillies". Pictures of Morris type Tillies show 6-stud hubs (which were also used on 10 CWT General Service trailers). The wheel design used on Tillies / military trailers is slightly different (possibly heavier duty?). Some pictures of military water carrier trailers look to have similar wheels but yours clearly isn't a trailer axle & on the trailer that I saw online its possible alternative wheels had been substituted over the years. I'm therefore of the opinion that your front axle/wheels are from a Morris 8. How does that sound?

PS Whatever they are, do I qualify? Very tempted by the free offer for the parts collection towards my long term (ie probably never going to happen) hot rod project (previously involving the aforementioned granddad's trailer). But: A. My wife will kill me if I get more stuff right now B. Not sure I can collect them in your timeframe .. however, you're near Winchester IIRC. I live near Reading but work Andover way... can I think about it (& develop my 'cover story')?...

Late 30s MOWOG product. Larger vehicle to be 6 stud, the smaller ones were 3 stud. So id say a 12 or 14.
Not useful enough to me to bother going down to get it really. I'd only use it for a trailer myself.

Thought I'd better say that I won't be taking up the offer for these parts
Hopefully someone else on here can use them as it seems a shame to scrap but either way PistonPopper gets his space cleared I guess :-)

They look rather similar (if not identical) to the wheels on my dad's 1944 Y type Morris post office van.
