My brother has a genuine Chevette HS with a 2.6 16v vesion of the slant engine. He's recently rebuilt the engine and on the rolling road yesterday it's first run was 212bhp at the wheels and at 5500rpm it blew the head gasket. It didn't get hot it just let go. Head gaskets are a bit of a weak point on these engines. The Cometic gasket fitted is a paper type where all others they produce are metal.
So who can make a high performance gasket that will work?

There is a thread somewhere about a place (could have been in Thailand) that'll make them for you. Just trying to remember which

We get one off copper/asbestos gaskets manufactured in the UK for our vintage diesel engines. You'd be looking at around £120ish though at a guess
