Probably in the small print that i didn't read. Anyway put a car up on the site that i wanted collected, Had a few quotes and choose the best one. Paid a £28 deposit. Now i thought this deposit for off the delivery quote? Turns out or so i was told that no that go,s directly to Shiply is that right? I,d have hired a trailer on got it myself if i,d have realised this.

I've used shiply. You pay the deposit which I believe goes to shiply, but also comes off the total you pay the driver. So you accept an offer of £100. You pay £20 deposit there and then to shiply, then the other 80 goes to the delivery driver on delivery of your vehicle.

To be honest, I'd rather look up a vehicle transport firm and deal directly with them rather than going through a 'lowest bidder' agency like Shipley.
If nothing else there's a little more guaruntee that your vehicle is being transported on the right side of the law on a transporter correctly insured for the purpose.
I've seen far too many beaver tail transits running overweight with cars strapped to their backs in my time.

I've used Shiply 10+ times now since I got rid of my own recovery truck and trailer. Always been spot on.
You pay a deposit via PayPal, but of course this comes off your total bill.
It's like eBay in as much as you can see the feedback for every trasnport provider on there. More often than not I haven't gone for the cheapest quote as I've spotted someone who's feedback/photos etc looked better for a few quid more.

Used it myself to collect a car, think I had to pay a £50 deposit and as mentioned, that came off the total bill.
Would definitely use again.

I've used it as well and as you found out the deposit goes to shiply.
They rate the firm's and have reviews so it's not hard to find someone trustworthy.

I've been on both sides of Shiply. I use to deliver things via them and I've had thing delivered, most recently a car about a month ago.
As everyone else has said, the deposit is straight to Shiply and the remainder is to the driver. I'll always get the details of good drivers because if you get in touch direct they'll always be cheaper.
Never had a problem from either side. One thing I did find though was my prices were taking into consideration a properr recovery truck and all the correct insurances. Others might be a guy in a shonky 106 with an A frame willing to pull your Land Rover.

Looks like i was conned then! paid the £28 deposit but the delivery guy then said that went straight to shipley and i had to pay the full amount £128 to him. Lesson learned there then.

I have used them twice. 1st time all ok got a good fella 2nd time and don't ask me why but I had a direct email from the bidder asking to pay upfront £50 I don't mind paying half £25 so I paid. He emailed me up too the day of collection.
Then nothing no collection of car or delivery calls never answered I know I should of not paid him and not sure where my head was at the time.

Hmm surely that complaint can be raised with Shipley? Personally, I've had some excellent results from on here via the pony express section. If your Kent/London based I have an excellent recovery driver is be happy to share the details of.

I used shiply recently and thiught it was brilliant. For years now Ive been looking at bargains on ebay only to be put off by how far away they are. ( yes I know thats a poor excuse but not when they were all non runners) Anyway, I bought a Corsa from Sheffield for a very cheap price thinking I could just rent a trailer and go and get it. I priced a trailer up at £50 and a van to tow it at £60. Then fuel would have easily been £40. Put an ad on Shiply and had it delivered for £90!!!! The delivery guy was awesome. Kept in contact and even left me his card for future use. Ive been told to try and pick a bid that works out about 90p per mile but not to always pick the cheapest. Recently quoted £250 to deliver another Corsa from 350 miles up north.

They are good for the buyer/seller (most of the time), but not for the drivers who get work via Shiply

Yes shiply changes there policy in the small print , The office helped me as much as they could and gave me free credit next time I used them.. Its was still a mess thought lucky the seller was very understanding about the hole ordeal ..

Used the service once and got lucky, I guess. Hooked me up with a great transport guy who've I've gone to directly numerous times since. Shiply certainly seemed to take a hefty slice for itself.
