What old car do you see the most out on the roads now days?
I seem to keep seeing mk3 Astras almost every day and not so long ago it was the mk3 cavalier

Strangely enough, I see a couple of Triumph Dolomites and a couple of MkIII Cavaliers every time I step outside my front door!

I think it is a given that you never notice how many of a particular car there are still getting around until you have one. My wife's BG Laser is a case in point. Since she got that I have seen a huge number of other ones that I just didn't notice before.

It used to be MGB's that you see most of, but they seem thin on the ground these days, even at shows.
Do see a few mk2 and mk3 Golfs around the area.

Mk1 Golfs, not surprising really when walking the dog I see six houses with various collections of VW's but they all have Mk1's that are used regularly.

I was thinking about putting a zetec in a mk1 / mk2 fiesta then I kept seeing them on the road and decided too common. Its amazing what you don't notice when your not really looking.
Since having the Allegro though for the last 3 years I've still only seen one other on the road and that was a guy who came to pickup some parts from me!

I think perhaps it's what your mind is tuned into at the time.
For example, the other week I was considering buying an E36 convertible and I though "haven't seen one of them in a while" along a 4 mile drive I saw 3. Where as usually I see none, but it's because I'm not looking for them.
In my area I see mostly MGB, Morris minors and beetles.

Just driven 30 miles home and counted all the cars 20 years or older being driven and quite shocked at how low the numbers were. Twenty years old? Yikes, round here that's probably 30% of the cars on the road! I drove in to Mansfield today - perhaps ten miles round trip - and without paying attention spotted two Morris Minors, one MGB, three VW Beetles, five Series 2 Landrovers (one might have been a Series 1), two Triumph Heralds and a Dolomite! Mk2 Escorts are an occasional spot, but I suppose they're getting too valuable now, but early Astras and Golfs are pretty common; Cavaliers and Sierras seem to have disappeared in the last twelve months, they used to be two-a-penny.

On family road trips we make a game of spotting cars older than ours. Sometimes on a journey of a few hundred miles the score gets into double figures. The youngest and I are off to school camp tomorrow so we'll see what we see.

I used to see loads of MK2 Golfs, but I hardly see any now. I would say that it's because I used to own one, so looked out for them more, but I'm still very much into my watercooled VWs, so I still look for them.
I'd say mk1 and mk2 MX5s are the most common round here.
