I need to invest in an engine crane. Something that can lift an M62 V8 (with the autobox attached most probably).
Any suggestions for something that will be adequate but not completely overkill and not made of Cheap. I don't particularly want to test the load rating of my steel toe caps.
Ideally it would be foldable but sturdiness and fitness for purpose is more important.
Thanks

The higher capacity folding ones will do. They all come from China. Buy the cheap ones of eBay. Ive got a 1ton jobbie and it's just fine only cost 100quid or so.

Max reach and load at max reach were important to me (Scimitar engines are heavy and set a long way back) so look deeper than the headline figures as the max load will be at minimum reach and the dimensions are often from the hinge point, not the first bit that hits the bumper I bought an older well built second hand crane years ago and it's done me well.

I was lucky enough to be bought a nice new crane for my Birthday. Went for a 2 ton version with a dual action pump. Not used it yet but looks to be well made, folds up and was £120 delivered from Amazon. Will get the details and post them up if of interest. Having said that any crane will be up to the task but I would spend the extra £10-20 to buy a 2 ton version as it gives more options with reach etc. P.

I found the loader on dad's tractor useful for this purpose on many occasions back in the day.

This is why I love having a Volksrod... 4 bolts and a jack and the engine just slides out with zero hassle LOL

Avoid Machine Mart one, mine has been back (both whole and just in pieces) several times and I'm on the third hydraulic ram replacement.
And I've only used it about 8 times.

Not bought one but based on quality of there jacks I'd go for an sgs engineering one. They have deals on quite often so 150ish will get you a solid crane.
Cheers
