Hi RR, Just bought some new wheels for my mx5, I was told they were 4x98 (fiat? fitment), I planned to use wobble nuts, but the first issue I've come too is that they won't fit on! I've attached a picture, the studs seem to be just too far apart. Has anyone any advice on this? Was thinking about getting the stud holes machined/drilled out? Don't really want spacer adapters as the wheels are spot on offset!

Just drill em yourself with a hand drill. Easy as that? I'll try it!

is it a centrebore issue? don't think so, Centre bore of the 5 is 54.1, centre bore of the wheels is 58.6 (ish). The wheels just don't want to go along the studs

the studs do look to be quite a snug fit in the holes. Could it be a combination of the difference in PCD, and possibly the wheels were intended for a car with thinner studs?

The 5 used m12 studs, so I guess the car they were made for could have used m10 or an imperial size? They will be going on though, on way or another

A couple of things, you should really clean up the inserts as they look to have a very heavy coating on them which could be an issue for fit and is definitely an issue for long term location of the nuts. STD. inserts are fit for M12, I have experience of these and have D44s currently. If you want I am more than happy to have a look at them and can measure and check against my D44s. I live in Kennington so you can pop over at a suitable time and to be honest I wouldn't mid looking at the barrels, are they Gotti, MADE or some other manufacturer? What are you doing for spigot rings as the CB edge is different from the norm from memory.

I assume you will be fitting spigot rings too? Yep :-) A couple of things, you should really clean up the inserts as they look to have a very heavy coating on them which could be an issue for fit and is definitely an issue for long term location of the nuts. What are you doing for spigot rings as the CB edge is different from the norm from memory. Is that cleaning the actual taper part of the nut insert? Am I'mnot quite sure what you mean by D44s either? As for the barrels, they have ZF cast into them. I didn't realise there was RR's that local! That would be very kind, shall I PM you? Centre bore on the car is 54.1, the wheels have 58.6 ish (best I could measure on analogue vernier ), so have some ordered.
