So following my Isetta project purchase this summer, I'm looking to get it "roadworthy" just to get it MOT'd and re-registered, while we sort out a house purchase, and then when it's warmer I can give it a more thorough once-over including some bodywork in the garage.
Being not familiar with Isettas, I could do with someone who knows what they're doing giving it a once over and tell me what's wrong/what needs doing to get it going.
In summary ,it's been off the road for ~30 years.
Recommissioned 90% by the previous owner I bought it off.
It starts, steers, but doesn't really drive... runs very rough, coughs, splutters and dies if I try driving. Can't really test brakes as it doesn't get up to speed enough!
Specifically I'm after someone who can:
- Help it start and run properly - it probably needs the usual timing/carb setting, but will probably take an expert 10 minutes to figure out what would take me 2 days!
- Tell me if the steering, brakes and suspension are "as expected" for an Isetta (I have no point of reference).
- Tell me if the gearbox is "as expected". It does go into forward and reverse gears but is 100% guesswork at the moment (and that's coming from a Fiat 500 w/o syncro owner)
- If a professional garage, MOT!
I'm in Leamington Spa (CV31), and the car can't be driven, but I'm sure I could pull it across town with my truck if it's not too far.
