Ok, its on a Seat Leon but its the same thing.
Anyone know where to get a decent one other then the dealers? Also does anyone know how much it would be from a dealer or any other places I can get an OEM one?
Pretty sure VAG built their doors gubbins to break, so far ive replaced the window regulator, door lock and interior handle cable.

heh, you guys might know this one, outer drivers door handle on a mk4 golf doesn't open the door, opens fine from the inside.
although, if you turn the key all the way and pull the handle it does work.
new handle needed?

mgbizzle- assuming you're talking about keep fit windows, cable kit is simple enough and cheap.
welshpug- Most door lock issues on 1jO platform are to do with the door lock module.they have 4 micro switches in! There is sometimes an issue with the pull cable but if it opens when the key is fully turned I'd go with door lock module.

Going up or down, and window drops if not held up. Makes a grinding sound when switch is operated.

Sounds like a combination of things. Broken window clip and possibly cable. Get in and have a look.Takes about 15 minutes to take the panel off, be even easier as you don't have to take the locking pin out of the window clip by the sound of it. i have a PDf manual for golf/bora if you want to drop me a pm with an email contact.

I've done it once before (this is a Euro parts regulator that has last 1.5 years), I normally follow this guide: forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1015107 , is yours the same?

Go to the scrapyard with a 9v battery to test before removal. IIRC the motor is integral to the door comfort unit and can't be tested par sé easily. Not that a PP3 will have the amps to operate a window lift motor..

Not that a PP3 will have the amps to operate a window lift motor.. To add to that, mk4 regs are bad enough, without fitting a second hand one. my gen repair kit was only £45. And if you reccomend the euro one, its not exactly an expensive repair...
