'Sup !! Come across a sorry looking Toyota Corolla levin .....whatever it's called, the rwd square boot type, I'm rubbish with model names. It's totally standard, Eeerrr, this type No, I'm not saying where it is 😂 Looks like it could be a cool project, I've asked the chap who knows the owner what he'd want for it.....I'm hoping he doesn't know it's 'cool' factor and charge that price. What sort of price does a 'project' go for? If it's cheap, I might go for it, but it is rough body wise. Are body panels Available, is there a decent amount of spares about, the car is stuffed full of bits and bobs. It's gunna need a ton of welding not fussed about engine as that could be whatever I want really, not worried about keeping it original

here is something Japanese and coupe on ebay that i would deem rare and vee cool and i would love to take it on except that it would only be a matter of time before a spot of weld dropped into my ear and killed my little brain. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262703011649?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITalso missed an aerodeck civic very recently that went for £100 while the seller was emailing me that needed a spot of welding near the floor etc.. looking at your car though id say youd be paying full price for those wheels at least...

i see now, everything is clear lol
well i cant see that 626 coupe going even for the starting price unless someone jumps in at the last second like they did on the only areodeck pop up lights honda on ebay the other night.
i would offer a couple of hundred to be honest as its worth nothing to someone who isnt going to do anything with it...
I'm guessing also thats its going to need trailering away etc...?
whats the price of scrap at the moment? think its close to nothing, offer to have it removed free of charge for him/her?

If it really is an ae86 then they are worth a bomb - not sure of prices in England, but they are silly money in Australia, Ireland, America, et al. Have a look on ae86irl for values. The pop-up light version is know in Japan as a Levin Trueno. Americans got them as a Corolla SR5 (single cam carby) or GTS (twin cam injected)
Panels aren't super available in metal, but plenty of fibreglass options around. Most of the mechanical stuff is pretty bomb proof really. Flos in Ireland can sort most parts, some still available genuine. Like any Toyota of the time the trim and what not is bloody hard to find, but not impossible.
10 minutes on google will reveal all you need to know. They are a great little car, I have the fixed headlight version

A rough booter if complete and running is probably still worth 2-3k depending on exactly how rough the body is. Panels are getting harder to come by now, everything genuine is discontinued so it's gonna be all secondhand or fibreglass.

a rough booter to someone who knows what it is can have value.
a rough booter that is hard to find parts for from someone who just knows it as a toyota can be considered scrap.

Well it'll definitely need a new boot floor (could just do away with the spare wheel section too) Wheel arches bit crusty,
Can't see under car because of grass and stuff (which won't help)

ae86 is the model designation for the 2WD rear drive shape that ran from 1983-1987. Toyota codes go: A - engine. So all engines in this model are A series engines. 3au/4ac (single came carby) or 4age (twin cam, injected) E - Corolla 86 - model designation. This shape was also available as an 85, which had some minor differences to the body structure, such as less bracing, etc. and only came with single cam motors
The ae86 has some part interchangeability with the ke70/ae71 shape corollas, but generally the "better" parts off the ae86 (front struts, motors, diffs) are swapped into these earlier, boxy Corolla's to replace the more economy based parts these cars generally came with. JDM market stuff is different, but so rare in these its not worth worrying about

Also these cars love to rust, even in Australia. Check: - Arches at the rear - Boot lip inside where the weather strip goes - Behind the rear bumper, if you can't get the bumper off there are 2 pockets in the sides of the boot that you can reach down into here. They are likely to have little ponds in them - Door Hinge area - Rear corner of door jams - Roof behind top of windscreen - Around rear screen

There was an AE85 too which was a poverty spec version. How bad is it? £4000 might be a bargain. £10k+ for a good one now.

No I don't, was gunna get some if the price wasn't ludicrous Doesn't run either.
You can get a half decent one on eBay now for £5500
I get it's rare, and he obviously knows what they can be worth,
Condition wise, lets class it as a long term weldathon!

go and offer him some pennies. what do you have to lose?
do you know how long he has been sitting it rot?
my neighbour has a couple of mk3 xr3is rusting away down the side of his house, ive know them there for 3 years and am certain that they were there for quite a while before that. obviously he wants to keep hld of them until they are worth 10 million squids each but they will be dust by then so i don't get his point lol.
while they become more rare, harder to find and the value goes up, they must still be a breaking point where its value is eventually only as scrap.
there is a levin on ebay for £35,000 but i wouldnt let that get in the way of making an offer of saving something that might otherwise just go to waste.
i wouldnt be looking at anything near 4 figures for something that needs welding unless it has a bar of gold in the glove box.

i wouldnt have offered that even lol
i know how precious a rare thing can be to enthusiasts but theres a whole lot of people that are not enthusiasts or like me that find it very hard to materialise all my exciting imaginings and become distracted by something entirely unrelated.
i wouldnt try to guess where the owner stands but even if he knows its potential value he might also be realistic enough or even generous enough that he'll give the thing the chance it deserves.
