Hi guys, Looking to insure my 5 and wanted to know if anyone has had any really good deals at the moment. Whether that is being through a club or with a certain policy? Peter James are my cheapest so far, I should mention this is a second car, but they are still £331. My brother has his 5 with them for around £150 with similar details so i don't get the huge jump, coilovers are the only real difference between the cars which i declared. Anyway for your trouble here is a piccy of the beast. Cheers Tom

My Eunos is with Diamond on an agreed value classic policy,it's an import but more or less standard bar some extra gauges. Cost just less than £100 with 4000 miles a year mileage limit. The agreed value cost me an extra tenner.

IME when I was looking a Eunos was around £80 more for me to insure over a UK car.
A year ago I was looking at £225 to get a Eunos insured. MX-5 this year? £90. Eunos owners at a local meet said they were paying around £190.
Alot will depend on what the car is down as on the logbook too IMO. Many Eunos' are down as MX-5s.

Interesting, mines incorrectly down as an MX5 on the log book but they knew it was an import anyway. When i filled in the online form and input the reg it came up with something like "we think the vehicle is an import is this correct?"
On the agreed value i declared it as a Eunos Roadster V Special and nobody questioned anything.

Diamond were coming out very expensive just so i may have to call them.

Yeah i had to call them after inputting all the details. They quoted me online for a classic policy but the system wouldn't let me complete the deal, you have to do it over the phone for classics for some reason.
Very pleased with the price i got.I'm pushing 50,max no claims and no points which doesn't harm but Diamond were the cheapest i could find.
The agreed value is done through Admiral, all the same company.

From my previous experience private plates *may also increase the premium.

My MK1 MX-5 has been insured for under £100, F/C, for as long as I can remember. I used to use Adrian Flux until their customer service went down the pan, now with Bridle, paying somthing like £95 for a £1500 car, garaged, no mods, 5k miles PA. I have a clean licence and one other car, nice postcode yadda yadda. Get out there and haggle, man

When I had mine a few years ago I was with Greenlight, they are underwritten by LV. The price was reasonable, but the main draw was that you have a power cap of 180bhp (which will still allow you to bolt on a supercharger kit) on your policy, but you can make any modifications you want and it won't increase your premium. If you change something - body mods, suspension etc, phone them up and tell them what you've done, they add it to your list and thats it, no admin charges or anything. You can increase the power cap but they will charge you, but I don't know how much that would affect the price as I didn't do any power mods. If you aren't already, get on mx5nutz forum, they are in the trade section, check testimonials and I think you'll get a club discount.

I use Greenlight as well, I've even got business mileage included. Maybe not the cheapest but if you are doing mods then very easy. They are recommended through MX5nutz, 01277 650866.
