I have a shiney inlet manifold to go onto the transit but the large water inlet/ outlet elbow was corroded to dust, It's definitely an imperial thread and looks to be tapered, does anybody know what it is off hand so I can order a brass one up on line as I can't get to the plumbers merchants in work hours. Thanks

Exactly like that, pretty sure I've seen them in brass but with a barb to take the pipe maybe hydrolic fittings or some such

Right just to follow up and answer my own question for the benefit of anybody who stumbles across this at a later date, Burtons and the ebay link list them as 3/8 NPT I wasn't convinced this was the right size for my manifold after looking at taping drill sizes. Got time today to go into the nearest hydraulics place and mine were 1/2" and 1/4" so I've no idea where or what my manifold came from, although it is date marked '82. They also said that at that thread size and length especially with a taper fitting BSPT & NPT were pretty much interchangeable with only the 1 tpi difference.
Hopefully this might just help some one else out in future with an odd sized hole!

I think BSP will screw into NPT a certain amount of threads then it will lock , whether that seals I'm unsure , it would with plenty of PTFE tape . I say that from working with hydraulic fittings and occasionally buggering something up by not checking the paperwork !!
Wierd , i assumed all threads on engines would be standard metric etc .

Plenty of PTFE has been used just in case to prevent tears before bedtime, it actually looked like some liquid PTFE had been used on the original fitting when it came out in pieces. There's only about 1/2 to 3/4" of thread in the hole so I guess it was probably not enough to lock it up with the difference, especially with it being the taper.
