I don't have pictures of the awesome car or driving talent involved in this story but I'm sure hillclimb fans will.
I had a call today to say an old friend of mines dad had passed away, this made me think just how much of an influence he was in my life and I hadn't realised it till now.
At a young age in first school I was picked up by my friends mom, nothing odd you say, well in a race numbered red 3.9 Morgan with wire wool packed silencers it wasn't the norm. Over the years as a child I was mini pit crew, rolling slicks across paddock. Cleaning tires on many a hillclimb start, doing the Avon and pound championships. I watched the car evolve.
I was asked to clean and detail it for the shelsly Walsh anniversary. The car was the first Road legal to break 100mph finish line at shelsly.
I've ridden on the back holding onto the cage to race meets as a kid.
I now have made many friends and acquaintance through cars, made a career and met my wife through cars.
Well it's it's last guise liveried as father and son in vanity Hall it ran a ferocious 5ltr v8 worked on by many specialists.
Mr Mike Hall, you and your Morgan I owe a lot to. I hope your in your slippers and race suit waiting to go right now.
