A quick question, whats the legality of running lo pros on a transit that should be running VAN tyres, want to go to 225-50 -16s any problem with weight rating

yes they need to be of the correct weight rating for the mam of the vehicle.
thats why the recent transit sportvans were down plated.

for a 3500kg vehicle, you need an 875 kg per tyre minimun, which is a 103 rating.

a brief look shows that the standard rating in that size is 92, xl rating is 96. do 630 to 750 kg.

195 70 15 was standard mk3 size so a 215 60 16 is closest in a van tyre.

Mine are 255/60/18's with a 112 load rating (1250KG) made by HiFly...  I was skeptical about the make but have found them to be surprisingly good tyres. Purchased from ebay with no issues and delivered next day despite me wanting bigger profile tyres they didn't charge me any extra. They also do the same wheel with 45 series tyres but at I think they are 103 rated. Same tyre in a 16 shouldn't be any issue. Apologies for the non retro van photo but it was included for comedy value ( I wanted the 'Hot Wheels' look - mission accomplished)  |
