Okay, so this is my first post on here! Please be gentle. On Sunday I will be picking up my very first retro car. A little red Renault 5. He needs a little work, a good polish and valet to start with, which will include having all the dents pulled out. I also want to treat him to some Ronal Turbo's. The Rio stickers will be coming off too and maybe at some point in the near future i'll think about adding some sporty stripes to suit his personality. In the meantime though. He needs a name! Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Jess

Dunno why, saw it and instantly thought of Bert... I don't tend to name cars unless you count the few choice swear words when they break

He looks like a "Rene" to me,it means one who has been reborn in French so kind of appropriate for a car that's in new hands with a new look planned Tidy little car btw.

I love the meaning of that name, seems very fitting. Someone on the young retro motor club suggested 'Doug' because of the number plate. I'm hoping to take all these suggestions with me on Sunday and one just fit! Hopefully i'll know when driving him back.

Made me smile seeing the title of the thread as I remembered the adverts and sales brochures when my dad got his in 1986.

Sorry but all forms are transport should be female. You know hear someone say "My car needed petrol today; HE guzzled a whole gallon up" (and no, not "High Effiency" XJS, which still require a local oil well to power) But of course, these days convention seems to matter not. Welcome to the fray. And my suggestion? Georgia. Just a lovely sounding name in my opinion. Whether it is of a sufficient quality to be used on your car is another matter, but it's certainly nice and warm to hear and say!
