Been throughly enjoying my SAAB 9000 since my beloved 1984 900 was written off by a texting OAP. I actually think I like the 9000 far more after our extremely hot spell and me fixing the air-conditioning just at the right time. As it's a 2.3 manual CSE turbo, it was a little boat like in handling, and just didn't look right to me, even after changing over to 16 inch super-aeros without the centre-caps. I wasn't in a hurry to lower, so camped on ebay (saved searches - you get emailed results - godsend!) and managed to get some 25mm lowered springs for £100, and a set of bilsteins all round for £150. Before: After: Ride quality still acceptable - rear springs seem a little softer than I wanted, but the front is absolutely perfect. It satisfies part of me that only gets satisfied by lowering a car, and I don't know what it is! - Lowered three cars in 20 years and got the same feeling of awe and amazement each time. I have also recently modded my t5 trionic APC to stage one, and converted to a t7 BPC valve which was almost as satifying, but lowering does something extra ......

I find lowering is always very satisfying, until you get in and drive it, I then tend to realise I should have either spent more money on better parts or not lowered it as far I did. Ruined a few hatchbacks by slamming them on just coil springs Learnt my lesson now though, proper matched damper and springs or quality coilover sets only, then it's satisfaction all round.

Oh yes, lifting an excessively lowered purchase and fixing the ruined handling and replacing the buggered exhaust

The day you do new wheels and lowering combined, is the only thing better than lowering day. New wheels day comes in a close third.

Not much else transforms the way a car looks more than lowering and wheels trouble is geting a set that don't drop it on it's , last set of 40mm lower suspension i fitted turned out to -60mm but the ex loves it rockhard and bouncy Looks great but dives too hard living in london (every speed hump is an adventure) 25mm is about as far as i lke to go i'm too old and the moobs are too bouncy nowdays The saab loks way better with less arch gap though

Was under my lowered Mondeo today and found some strange damage to things that hang down. That, the fact one silencer box has been replaced with a dodgy looking pipe and the state of the springs may see me taking it back to standard. Its great on dual carriageways and some A roads, but find a pot hole and it hurts! All the very best, Geoff.

My pt cruiser drove like a dream before I lowered it but it was one of the first mods I did. Looks before comfort for me every time.had the car nearly 11 years and spent over 10.5 losing my fillings.

When i had my mini estate i lowered it and it handled as youd expect. The car also had a big bore stainless exhaust that hung very low. One day in town the car was getting afew looks, I pulled out of a sideroad and gave it a bootfull. as i did the car went down a dip in the road, and the exhaust hit the road and got ripped off the car at the manifold. I simply got out of the car, unhooked the exhaust from its mounts, opened the rear doors and put the whole exhaust in the back of the car. Still being watched. Started the car up and the noise in the car (with no carpets) was daft. But i just drove off and styled it out. Or so id like to think, on my 10 mile drive home.
I also lowered one of my Maxis by letting most of the fluid out of the system. Soon after doing this the bottom arm on the front suspension sheered off the subframe. I don't lower cars now.

I keep thinking of lowering my avant, it's proper wallowy and gives me no confidence when cornering. In comparison my other half's e36 feels like it's on rails.

anything and everything looks better lowered Very true! and drives like complete sh1t ... home.retro-rides.org/?page_id=17014Point 2. No idea what your problem is. No one on here is the new Senna, missing an apex or cornering 10mph slower really isn't that big of a deal.

Did my Foz last November from std 4x4 to this: On the plus side handling improved immensely, loads less body roll. Only downside is the reduced ground clearance at the tow bar when loaded. I have to be careful over humps and backing in to places!
