..............or how to ruin a pretty rare car......... I started with this, bought from a very sound gent in Bridport No MOT, but sound and running. Immediately delivered to local garage for any mechanical stuff that needed sorting, plus an MOT. This involved rebuilding / replacing most of the brakes, sundry bulbs, gaiters, bushes, cables, and a new cam belt and associated stuff. I drove it home, and promptly starting taking it apart Front wings and bonnet were removed, the front wings have been re-profiled, as the lights / grille are going to be severely modified [floating tube grille, with hidden round headlights. Bonnet has undergone some experimentation involving net curtains, various aerosols I happened to have kicking around, metal flake, and a considerable amount of lacquer More to follow..........................

Ooooh! Lacing... I do like a bit of laced paintwork, keep the photos coming. Any details on how exactly you did the lacing? Did you stretch it over and tape round the back, or did you glue it down? If you glued it, what with? Thanks! Be watching this with interest!

Drivers door, done with rattle cans, [Rustoleum stuff] White base, gold flake over the top. Wood is B&Q's finest cheapo pine strips, with many coats of yacht varnish. Lace effect was achieved by pin strip masking the shape, much masking, laying lace over the top pulled tight by judicious use of many magnets. Needs gold pinstripe round the edge to finish. After spraying, furious colour sanding to achieve ghost effect [same technique with the bonnet] Copper tape is stuff you buy from garden centres for repelling slugs, with lacquer over the top to stop discolouration

Looked a nice car in the first picture, not my cup of tea sadly, however I appreciate the time and effort put into it and it's your car and your vision unfolding so good for you! If we all liked the same things nothing new would ever be created so for that I say well done. Looking forward to the finished article.

No proper tree, pine strips bonded on, and varnished copiously

I'm nothing if not broadminded (ask swmbo) but this one going to be a real marmite job. love the colour and timber...just not sure on the pimp-mobile elements. be interesting to see it as a whole though.

I can't wait to see it finished. I'm not sure I'll like it, but I'll defend your right to do whatever you want, especially with the amount of hard work it's going to take.

That's what great about this sort of project, only by trying different things will our minds be opened to new ideas, personally would never have thought of it but I love the new bumper and wood on the doors but on the other hand I am not sure about the bonnet, mind you when it's all done I may completely change my opinion. Great workmanship and amazing vision, can't wait to see it finished.
