So I recently acquired a Sinclair C5 lately, I am slowly stripping it and bringing it back to life again.
The biggest issue I have with it, is at some stage in life its had a lick of paint, most of it has flaked off... once I have the shell removed from the chassis I plan on power washing it but is there anything I can use on the paint to remove stubborn areas ... which wont effect the plastic?
Many thanks Chris

if it was a dodgy top coat slapped on, a karcher will blow it off

2nd vote for brake fluid. Kitchen towel saturated in brake fluid. Apply to area you need paint removed. Cover in cling film. A day or so and its all off

Won't it melt the plastic too? I have a set of motorbike panels that's had a watering can spray job. Last time I used bar coat and then primer and it still reacted. I now have the same task of taking it back to bare plastic and believed it would be a huge sanding task Can the panels be repainted after stripping if required?

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

I used to race rc cars. Always had a different paint job every race meet. Used to strip paint off lexan/polycarbonate/marguard bodies with brake fluid with no ill effects

R/c nitro fuel also strips most paints, as dose oven cleaner.
Between those 2 and brake fluid one of them will help.

If brake fluid melted plastic it wouldn't be very good for the plastic bottles it comes in or most modern brake fluid reservoirs. I've had a 1984 Subaru Brat in a tub of brake fluid for 4 weeks now. I've found nitro fuel kills some lexan but not tried it since the last disaster. 1979 Sand Scorcher with 7 layers of paint. 5 weeks in brake fluid. Nasty Lancia 037 with a few layers, about 2 weeks although was doing well after 2 days.

Nice to see another C5 owner on RR Few and far between I am guessing when it comes to C5s on RR? I picked this one up for a handshake a few weeks ago, a caretaker where my wife works just had it lying in his garage and asked if I would be interested in taking it away... didnt need to ask me twice. So Power washer, oven cleaner and brake fluid, possibly in that order to get it back to its original condition... sounds like a plan
