just bought an oddball hot rod and need to sort some wheels for it its ford based and i need to find some old 15 or 16" wheels that can take a plain hubcap and have a 4x108 pcd . i have some 4.5 inch steel cortina wheels with caps that will be banded to 7" to take 175/50 13 tyres and need some wide rubber for the rears as the current pinto is coming out to make way for a 400cu ford small block ,I'm racking my brain and cant think of any wheels that fit the bill?

Austin A40 Devon used 16" rims with a 4x108 PCD.

and early series Hillman Minx (and badge engineered cousins) used 15" steels on a 4 1/2" pattern. All obviously narrow obviously so you may end up wanting to band them too.

It's worth checking North Hants tyres, they might have something available off-the-shelf.

i think il go for the 16" so i can put some modern tires on which will be a fair bit cheaper than anything wide in 15" . i cant get over how cheap the engine parts are for the yank v8,s ive always run rover,s but complete engines with a gearbox are getting a bit thin on the ground now , i hope it doesnt snap in the middle when the big lump goes in

The cheapest good looking 15" steels are the space saver wheels out of this shape mondeo They're nigh on identical looks wise to austin devon steels. Use 15" wheels on the back opus' are tiny 16s will look way too big. Also don't use modern tyres you need something with a decent sidewall height (no low pros) else it'll look rubbish. Matt

i was thinking about monde wheels but never thought about the space saver ,top idea and if i run 175/50/13 on the front i should find a 235/60/15 for the back without too much aggro

WE used Peugeot 406 steels on my mates rod. 6j x 15 and pretty much even offset/inset.

are they peugot wheels on the back of that too? The Rover has Weller motorsport rims, you could probably get them in the size you want off the shelf
