I'm looking for sound deadening pads or sheet to replace some of the original stuff from inside my Rovers floor pan. I was going to use dynamat but I just read it cant be overpainted. What else is available and is good? Thanks.

Why do you want to paint it?
Surely carpet will cover it?
I work in car manufacturing, although not really in a paint shop/body-in-white area.
The painted-over type are generally baked-on in the paint oven, so not really suitable for DIY application.
Everything I've seen which is applied at room temperature in a modern car has been backed with aluminium foil. I guess if you are really keen, you could spray etch primer over the foil and then paint it?
There are spray-on sound deadening products available, which are basically seam sealer sprayed on in large quantities.

Any body shop suppliers should have sound deadening that's overpaintable. I've used wurth and other spurious variants successfully

If it is still sold Bodyline should do the job. It is not as effective as Dynamat Xtreme but it is not too bad. That is basically like OE sound deadening. It is a bit of a pain to apply but it should do the job.
Why do you want it overpaintable? After you after a stock finish?

Just make sure to pull off the light plastic film off the top of the sound deadening pad and give it a quick rub of scotch before you go spraying.

Yes I'm after a stock finish look. It's for a rover sd1 police car. In the boot the spare wheel well isn't carpeted and originally the deadening pads would have been painted body coloyr
