No, I'm not an 'ecomentalist' - I know they aren't so common now Land Rover 90s & 110s etc are more freely available than they were in the 1980s/90s but I do like a Land Rover - Range Rover 'mash up', AKA "hybrid"... so (along with various donor / project Range Rover 'Classics') here is mine!
The body of the donor Rangey heads for the crusher back in 2011:
Meaty engine:
(Perkins 4236)
My brother borrowed a big pressure / steam cleaner from his work & gave the donor Rangey rolling chassis a bit of a blast. Looking much better - although you'll just have to take my word for that - here is the result of the big clean up, seen with my Land Rover 90 (which tends to vie for attention with this project):
(Apologies for poor quality photograph - I only had my mobile & darkness was well on its way after a combined day of work on the chassis and rear door alignment after converting the 90 back to a hard top!)
Some parts waiting in this pile (which is my shared 'hoard' for this & my 90" rebuild):
... plus a few more choice bits - eg new GRP doors, in the process of being primed here:
Believe it or not, I'm saving some bits from this too. Actually this was a sad moment back in 2012 - the scrap man was being relatively generous & my dad wanted to make some space around the farm... I learned to drive in this van & was sad to see it 'die':
It was one of the reasons for my interest in 4x4's ... yes, really ... locking diff, crawler gear & 4x4 at the press of a button - it is (was) a Subaru!
I've kept the rather natty high-backed, lift-up front seats 'just in case' I can find a use for them (after a bit of renovation)
