This came as part of a job lot of Rover ex dealership tools, I have no idea what is for or how to use it, my best guess is it is something to do with light! there are no instructions, any help identifying it would be great, thanks Jim   |

Looks like something that would be used by Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Space 1999, etc.  Sorry have no sensible idea what it could be other than maybe some sort of ultrasonic alarm tester ? |

I think it might be an ultrasonic leak detector for detecting air/vacuum leaks.
Used one that looked a bit like that once.

We use something with headphones and a mic/sensor to detect leaks in door seals and screen bonding, with all the doors and windows closed heater blower on, go round the seals and glass with the sensor to find leaks by sound, I guess this must be an early version. |

Definitely an ultrasonic tester, we have the same one here at work  Good for finding leakage paths in bulkheads and door seals. |
