Nope, no jag for me. The insurance quotes I am getting are stupidly high so I might be forced to opt for another classic at this rate. Possibly an E28, E30 touring, E32 or even an E34 as all would qualify for a classic. Doing that however, defeats the object of it being Wiley's new daily at year end. I might have to bite the bullet and cough up £600+ for insurance on an RX300!

Do the later ones suffer the same electrical faults as the earlier models?

Don't know anything about omegas, it just came up cheap so thought I'd buy it and see, so far I like what I'm seeing and for the price I'm pretty much chuffed, no damage or rust and plenty of history, sorry to hijack your thread David just thought I'd throw it into the suggestions

Jack away Dan, I am sure there are many on here just as interested as we are in the eclectic purchasing of cars we all go through. Looks a good buy that!

Now that is a lot of car for the money. I always liked the Omega and could really go for a V6 estate. They all seemed to disappear almost overnight.

Had a good go through it today, excellent body with just a scratch on the boot lid ,tidy inside just a broken catch on the glovebox and worst of all... A weeping radiator, the car came from salvage market a dealer disposal my mate won the auction at £130 and collected whilst he was in Southampton collecting a newer car ,,there's a lot of older stuff on salvage market very cheap, luckily my mate viewed the car before we bid but at the price I would of took a chance, it's cleaned up very well going to replace the rad and use it daily , which will give me the chance to freshen up the E300

My grandad had one of these recently, it was an elite and what impressed me most was the heated seats front and rear, and the electric rear blinds! My jag didn't have that!

After much deliberation, and with lots of great help on here, I've decided to avoid buying one so my search will continue. Now going to consider a 5 series, W210, W202 & ML Mercs or even a Lexus or something! So much to choose from!! Let us know when you have your eye on something more specific so we can let you know what to look out for
Isn't life funny sometimes.. I had half decided on a Rx300 Lexus but got ridiculous insurance quotes so started thinking "Surely you CAN have a reliable, occasional use Retro that doesn't have to live in a heated caccoon"?
Inspired by none other than rich of this very parish, I decided to look for an E28 - More will be revealed once I get buy in from MrsSmokeEm tonight hopefully..... Watch this space

A retro bmw is a much better idea than a rx300. My experience of Lexus is very high parts costs when things go wrong. The bmw also has the cool factor so win win

Well, I finally decided upon a modded Subaru Forester STi (Coilovers, Zorst, etc etc)
Insurance was the main factor - Couldn't get a sensible quote on a Lexus but managed to get £350 for the 320bhp Forester through Admiral with all mods declared!

Aircon rad good too ad all other stuff saved. PM me if you are interested, I'm in south Shropshire. Steve
