Few glass questions.
Can you get custom flat glass cut to size?
Can all glass be bonded to the car?
If I want to glue clear glass on, what sort of paint is the black portion on the glass?
Bonded to the cars paint? Keyed? Bare metal?
I'm thinking of putting flush side windows on an old van, like the ones you get on modern vans (t5's etc). Maybe clear, maybe tinted.

Flat laminate can be cut to size or you can have single plate glass toughened. It's not that expensive. I have converted many things to bonded glass or Lexon (tough perspex) by painting a neat obscuration/black band around the edges. Best one was a Ferrari 350 Modenas track car. Tail gate came to me with smashed window. I cut Lexon to size, Painted black band using "special primer for windscreen glue" & bonded it to the tailgate. I even cut some vent holes in it. Customer was delighted. You will need to paint a line of primer on the car also using primer supplied with windscreen glue.

On some modern vans they seem to have a small sliding opening section in the middle of the glass. Any ideas if a glass place could Supply that king of thing?

I wonder if all glass can bend so I could do bending glass pop outs like vw type 3's.

Unless youve seen replacement glass panels with the sliding window fitted for your specific vehicle then you probably wont find anyone who can supply that. Glass wont bend once its been made. Not much anyway before it cracks (plate glass) or shatters (toughened).

Not sure what type 3 pop outs are but there are cars with opening rear quarter windows that have nothing more than a line of glue that acts as the hinge. Youu would still need a way of fixing it shut which normally requires a hole or 2 in the glass for a clasp of some sort.

On vw type 3 fastbacks the pop outs bend the glass. Its HUGELY off putting to watch or use!!
Thanks for the tip on the sliders, ill not bother taking that idea further then.

Tried looking for a vid but cant find one. was only early cars I believe, then I think they changed to hinges or frames. they don't pop out alot, maybe 3", scary stuff though!
Irrelevant though, ill not try doing it.
At least my first plan of bonded side glass on a bedford cf looks like its doable. Just need to sort the butchered side panels first.

I'm also interested in getting a panel with a sliding section after seeing a T4 with one. I guess getting an existing one cut down to size is impossible, due to it being toughened glass? Thanks

Yes mate was local windscreen guy.
He's just supplied and fitted a heated screen to my latest offroad racer £160 supplied and fitted.
I'm sure most smaller windscreen firms can do it. .that or plant glass companies
