Posted on piston heads but think Ill get a better response here!
My dad's a driving instructor, in the 90's he had a stink with the AA up in Dundee, starting with a Polo then swapping to the Rover 114, he left shortly before they swapped to Ford.
Does anyone have any photos of any old ADI cars? AA / BSM even any independents, would love to put a gallery together of them, ideally would love to restore a polo/114 to the original driving school spec with stickers, have recently found an old M plate white polo coupe which I'm sure is the model my dad had, color etc, been of the road since 2002 though!
any help appreciated, even if it's a photo from the old theory test books!

We have an independent instructor in Peterborough who is still using a Peugeot 306 to teach in!
I learnt with the AA in a metallic red 114, also had a few lessons with a local guy who used a mk3 escort complete with tartan rug on the back seat

I took my first lessons in a BSM MK1 Escort, day before my first test they changed to MK2 Escorts, indicators swapped from right to left side of steering column etc, funnily enough I failed. Nearly drove into a wall on the test as I wasn't used the the steering feel. Of course now I'd just jump into anything and drive off.
Passed my test a few months later after unlearning all the bad habits I picked up driving with my Dad during the summer.

306 is bloody good going, there's one local to me with a 2002 micra!
Midnight red Rover 114 - one of my favourites that my dad had! Funnily enough he had a mk3 escort before the AA, my brother (2 year old at the time) tried to start it / turn the radio on and it jumped into the wall in-front smashing the lights, have a photo of his old AX aswell!

I only had one proper lesson in an 81 Datsun Sunny i think. Passed my test in my own MK2 Escort, probably lucky as opposite lock during the emergency stop wouldn't normally pass ! I relaxed then though and drove like an old hand the rest of the test and he passed me.
Later i became an instructor briefly in a Hyundai Pony, don't have any pics of it though sadly.

I was taught by an eccentric Scotsman in a Mini - part of the lesson always seemed to include driving to the corner shop to buy his ciggies . . . . . .

Passed my test in my instructors 1300 Toledo. Wasn't very old but was going in the next day for an engine rebuild & the oil warning light was on continually through the test!

Intensive course done in a 2yo G-reg Pug 205 TD
Was a good car for the job, but whilst it was with the RAC, the car was plain red.

Started learning in a Colt Lancer (sadly not the Turbo!) and passed the test in a Colt Tredia (preferred the Lancer).
