Hi guys I'm Andrew first post on here, I use the info on here all the time to get around issues I'm having on my projects, I thought it would good motivation to post my ideas and bounce them round a bit
My van is a solid t25 from 1983. aircooled. camper. I brought a 2001 130tdi passat to donate the engine and gearbox and a spare watercooled rotten van for water system and spares
right, plan is; Air suspension using aero front bags and p38 rear bags- using a complete p38 eas unit to control it Jaguar front brakes 284mm vented standard rear drums pd130 engine with flipped gearbox (welding the bellhousing) the van is going to be painted the new nissan juke solar yellow passat clocks in original position
mot it
then after a few miles, interior 18inch wheels
i have alot of parts and have the van on the ramp, i'm currently well into the brakes, redone all the bearings and bushes, sorting the wiring, and knee deep in sanding discs on saturday i will post pictures of the van and the parts i have collected looking forward to some creative input
cheers

I have a complete passat pd130 engine, loom and gearbox. the ecu is remapped 160bhp so thats a good start for my bus! I'm using the original box but upside down. not sure about gear ratios. but i'll find out. had to totally dismantle the passat box before welding it. hope i remember how to put it back together :L

Another T25 getting some love, nice. Kept mine air cooled as I love the sound, looking forward to the updates with yours. Looks like it was a bit unloved when you got it. Nice save.

Thats a genius way of getting under your bus! I had mine at a farm for abit an never thought of doing that, Doh! If your using the passat box I take it youve cut the bellhousing flipped and welded it? How are you sorting gear change, with a cable setup? Have you had to deal with the inner sill? I'm scared sh*****s of cutting mine up and not getting it back together properly. You using steel/fibreglass or stainless coolant hoses? Either way very interested in your build dude keep it up

Think if the box is flipped with the bellhousing cut and re welded all is near on normal( might need more oil) but everthing still gets bathed. Could be total bull though

Either way very interested in your build dude keep it up ive cut the bellhousing and am in the process of welding it up. tbh its the hardest part of the project, a mistake on the gearbox could mean it drives awful, or it could fail anywhere, it must be right! so thats a time consuming task, weld it, test fit ,weld it, test fit.... the gear change looks straight forward, its a 5 speed so when flipped the selector will line up with the input. if the gear are backwards. it will need a total rethink. I'm using the original hoses from the green van, tbh most the stuff i wanted off the green van is aged so bad! the radiator is just ali dust and the fuel tank is like a sive. i'll fit a new radatior and tank i think my t25 has been welded before but to a great standard! all i needed to weld was passenger side foot well and a plate into the driver rear arch. now shes Solid! drilled the spindles last night to 16mm to fit the brakes. today I'm collecting the new brake discs so i can have my hubs machined to fit inside the disc the gearbox is similar to a beetle box in design, in formula ford racing they are used unside down and thrashed!!! so just over fill by 500ml should be fine
