looks really tidy - I've been tracking Disco TDi prices for a little while (bought a cheap ML as a stop gap) and I reckon if you blacken the bumpers and write a really good ad with much better pictures, you could try and hit £2k in a private sale. nothing in standard condition is going over 1700 at the moment, even premium spec autos in metallic with leather, cruise and air con. You have the mileage in your favour, so highlight that without saying it's sat for 5 years (unless it was in dehumidified storage and the fact that it's a facelift version. GLWS

Metal seems to be bubbling pretty well along the bottom of the wheel tub where it meets the boot floor on the driver side. Spraying stone chip over obvious stuff like that isn't going to bode well with potential buyers when the rest of the under side is covered in it.

Put your hanky away, I'm mearly pointing out a fact. Anyone coming to veiw that and seeing you have stone chipped over obvious rust bubbling in one of the many places they are known to rust in will be questioning what's hiding under the rest of the stone chipped under side.

You call me a "picky tw@t" but you are asking for people's opinions on its value, whether you can find better or not, that sort of bodge is clearly going to effect what someone is willing to pay for it. Judging by what the similar one sold for above, and that now no perspective buyer will know what's hding under all that stone chip, but it does look like a tidy truck in general. I'd say it's worth somewhere around £1-1.2k.

You have to pick a car apart to be able to give any sort of realistic opinion on value, because that's exactly what potential buyers will be doing.

just because something is rare doesn't means its valuable.

the one posted further looks like a rougher version of this with similar mileage to this one, and that sold for similar amount as a more common 4 door one in the same condition with 180k on the clock would.

as someones that's had the unfortunate job of welding a good few of these, if they are going there they will be going elsewhere, and the sort of people most interested in a car like this will more than likely know that too. yet its all been covered in stone chip. The point i keep trying to make is that because you have covered an area that clearly needs cutting out and new metal putting in, with stone chip, any potential buyers will now have to take a gamble at the condition of the rest of the underside because they cant see it properly. generally speaking the sort of person looking to buy an old discovery ain't the sort of people to be dazzled by tyre shine and a couple of tins of stone chip. obvious rust covered in stone chip is a warning sign to any savy potential buyers, so its always going to effect the car value, even if its just used as a bargaining tool by a potential buyer.


that said this whole thread is totally pointless because you clearly have already made up your mind as to what its worth judging by your replies. you've asked for peoples opinions and that's what you've been given. the only way to truly tell what its worth is to put it up for sale and see what it sells for, anything other than that is just someones opinion.
