Funnily enough I was having a conversation with my mot tester the other day about the delorean. He was telling me about how they had one in for work years ago and what a pile of poo it was, then his engine builder walked past, was asked "Tony, that delorean?". I then had to stand through another 5 minutes of the engine guy telling me all about how big a pile of poo it was.
I wonder if the new ones will have such a lasting effect on people?

Probably not alot or increase them. Shelby did the same trick IIRC with the GT500E.

The rules over here have changed on building low volume cars, so the builders don't have to follow the same rules as mass volume mfgs as previously.
I was reading on the delorean web site, where they have a brief but dedicated section to the reman potential.
I think that even when they use up the bodys that they have, they would be able to make more under the new rules. Not sure what the number of produced units would take them past the low volume rules.
Anyway, I can hope no more are sacrificed for bttf replicas.....

Happens ALL the time, stories about how curse word they are, 'oh it was this, oh it was that. Well I can tell you from first hand experience, because I've owned one since 2006. They aren't particularly fast, they don't do anything particularly remarkable, but they aren't curse word. It's a PRV engine (Peugeot/ Renault/Volvo) when did you last hear Volvo & curse word/un-reliable used in the same sentance? You will get stories from all over about them & most garages are scared to death of them, cos they think they are all weird & wonderful & just slag 'em off. They are a peice of pi$$ to work on & dead fooookin cool, end of |

They have a single cam 2 valve heads, not under any stress what so ever. Almost 2.9cc, will romp along all day without issue. The only slight issue, if you could call it an issue, is over-heating, which is in EVERY case bad maintanence. As mentioned they aren't fast & I think some people think they should be ( in a Delorean, that is) but if you take it for what it is, they are fine. They will do 300,000k plus   |
