Has anyone got any tips on smoothing in bonnet vents and filler not cracking out? The vents will be set in from the back, would they be better fibreglassed in to make the fixing more rigid or glued ie tiger seal/sikaflex? To smooth them in, I've bought some flexible plastic bumper filler rather than your normal body filler, I was thinking there would be less chance of it cracking?
Any tips or suggestions welcome.

Make sure you remove all paint, and rough the surface up on the vent and the area surrounding the vent in the panel ,i would use some tigerseal underneath and when this has dried on the top side around the vent i would araldite it and let this go off for a few days and rough the surface again, then apply your filler over the top of this

Another option would be to lay fiberglass tissue over the join in the same way you prevent star cracks from coming back on a grp car.

fiberglass first with cloth, then "bondo-glass"...or, put glass strands in your bondo.

Tiger seal will stay to flexible really ...
I'd clean back to to metal ( I'm guessing it's going on metal) and bond it together with fibreglass or proper 2 part panel bond ..
There's always a risk of shrinkage/ cracking as its two very different materials

If you use a filler, I suggest something like Isopon P40 (or similar) which has fibreglass strands in it. Sand this to shape then finish with a fine filler. To bond the parts you could use either this (I have used this on my car) www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/resin-gel-silicone-adhesive/structural-adhesives/vm100-black-methyl-methacrylate-adhesive.html or this (recommeded by Loctite and I also use it): LOCTITE HYSOL 9461A And 9461B Toughened 2 Component Epoxy Adhesive Unfortunately, both require an applicator but they use the same one.
