I'm hoping to get my hands on one of the above cars a few years down the line and I was wondering which of the two you'd go for? Obviously the Skyline would be more expensive to run but both are a similar price to buy and respond equally well to mods. The light weight, purity and compactness of the S14 appeals while the drama and excitement of the RB25 appeals in the Skyline, plus the presence they have on the road.
Where do you all think the values of these two cars will go say in the next 5 years? Are they rising fast or steadily?
Also, do you have any other suggestions for similar cars around the same money? They have to be reasonably reliable, have four seats, must be RWD too.
Thanks!

Skyline for me, every time! It just has such an amazing road presence, every 3 year old knows what it is. TBH I prefer the S13 to the S14 anyway but either is a decent choice. Both cars have bottomed out price wise and are now on the rise again, my prediction is the Skyline will ultimately go further. The S14 is a good car, but the Skyline is a legend! But if you truly can get a Skyline for S14 money, it may just be time for me to put another tick on my bucket list!

I had an s14a and loved it but it wasn't great on fuel. I would say if you're looking for a car with 4 seats, then don't get one. Not much room in the back.
I think the value of them is on the rise slowly, they just keep getting turned into drift cars.

S14a - R33 too boatlike in comparison, much prefer the driving position in the S14 too.

Thanks all for your input so far, re the driving position I think I'll have to give both a try before I buy one. I'm not very tall so I ought to find it easier to get comfortable than some hopefully.

I loved my 14a and having driven both would stick with the 200sx. Seem lighter and a bit more nimble. I'd buy another but the prices seem to have gone sky high now all the drifters want them

Had both & I loved both. However the bottom end of the sr20det lump is like soft cheese & they do love to let go.The RB25det engine is fairly bullet proof. Also rust is a lot more apparent in the S14, everything from inner sills at the rear by the wheel arch & check under carpet by the doors, subframe mounts, lower radiator support & sometimes the boot floor where the rear lights leak!

^^^^That's a good point about the rust, they are prone to it.

Actually the SR20DET in the S14 is pretty much bulletproof as long as the oils changed properly, your thinking of the CA18DDET from the S13 which does indeed have big end bearings made of chocolate... They do like to rust though, your right on there, again not as bad as the S13's do. I wouldn't actually say the S14 is that good and nimble on a tight twisty road though, the chassis isn't all that tight although its really not bad, maybe an S15 would be better, they certainly feel much more nimble and tight. and having had a blat in an R34GTT not very long since I was really quite surprised at how small and nimble it felt from the inside, certainly not as barge like as I was expecting, really not all that different from my old S14.

S14a. The R33 is a boat and comes with skyline tax.
And yes I have driven both.
