Whilst rust is an issue, its no worse than a lot of 70's or 80's cars with the benefit that like MG's Minis and Beetles, there are full and repair panels available in steel or fiberglass (Where applicable) should you need them. They are mechanical simple and whilst than can give electrical problems, it is rarely anything complicated. There are still plenty of cheap ones, the only expensive ones are either in exceptional condition, have rally pedigree or being sold by dreamers.
