I really don't think its enough for every now and again someone from your community pop up and say ' thats terrible we don't condone that '.
You need to be working to stamp it out . That means banning people or going to the police - grassing as you probably call it . I'm sure plenty of people don't nick cars but don't mind buying bargain cars and parts from dodgy people .
You really do not have any right to get angry with ordinary car enthusiasts when its clear to see its the very people you rub shoulders with that do this .

The banger community, collectively, doesnt give a sh*t so long as it brings no heat upon them, basically, its all fair game. Edit: I wonder where speedy88 has got to? Normally, at the smell of a conspiracy against banger racers, he is on here accusing the rest of us of running around like a lynch mob. Amazing how quiet these people get when the circumstantial evidence, that banger racing has a vast festering cancer of thieves and scum suckers amongst them, becomes too much to even begin to defend. You really are a biggotted little tw@ What the fuck do you know about banger racing or its drivers ? I raced 30 years and never raced 1 nicked motor, dozens of classics.. paid for every one Not all racers are thieves, but like every walk of life there are some bad apples I bet there's a few on this forum but with your one sided views you'd never admit it To skylinedave.. Most drivers offer parts to restorers / enthusiasts and let them have them cheap.. it gives a few quid back I've offered bits on this forum, but being a "scumbag banger driver" nobody wanted the bits.. their loss If these cortinas have been nicked to race then it is sad, i and 99% of other drivers will feel the same way as we do not condone racing stolen motors And to quote mr ihatebangerscum.... don't tar every driver with the same brush !! Most racers including myself drive classics / retro cars daily.. Our own, and we'd also be pretty pi$$ed off if they got nicked If some of you warriors feel as bad as you say i suggest you get down to said meeting, find the cars and do something about it. THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN - GET THE MEDIA INVOLVED . 100000%%%

It's not about tarring all banger racers with the same brush but you can't ignore that there is evidently a small minority of racers who actually are thieves. That is now 6 cortina's gone missing near where a cortina banger race is soon due to be held. It's all very well getting sensitive about it as a banger racer but it is happening. As enthusiasts we aren't going to just ignore this fact for fear of upsetting the majority of law abiding racers who think we are tarring them all with the same brush any time we suspect a few of them nicking our cars. I'll leave this here (and you can add now the green cortina in a previous post):

I know an old school banger racer and he will happily tell you of dodgy escapades while aquiring cars back in his day. It seems that very little has changed.
It's all well and good saying it's just "a few bad apples", but what are the good apples within that scene doing about it? What are the organisers of these events doing to get rid of the "few bad apples" that are giving their events such a bad name? Sadly the answer to that seems to be 'nothing at all'.

Ive paid for every car ive owned, every part everything, go me!! Your 'community' has a significant minority of people who are happy to steal a car to race, fact. Maybe, instead of getting out of your pram and getting all offended, you would like to take your hand off your knob and use your thirty years of banger experience AND contacts to see if YOU could find where all of these cars have gone? Hey, maybe you can get a gang of honest to goodness racers together who will use their spare time to hunt down crims sending pinched Volvos around Arena. No? ok. As for tarring all drivers with the same brush, Id suggest that its the thieves amongst you that are doing that not the victims, something that is so blindingly obvious yet sails straight over your head because you take issue with the obvious. I'm sure that there are banger racers who are classic car buffs well, mind you there are vivisectionists that still own pets.................
Basically, unless you have any practical advice to offer or are prepared to assist by asking around you are just pouring fuel on the fire. tw@t head

Sorry am new here, was trying to share this on my Google+ site. Just maybe any little will help. Am appalled to hear about this. I live up in the North of Scotland and this sort of this is thankfully a rariity nowadays...... wasn't always the case mind you but not so much i recent times. We have banger racing up here and to be honest the vast majority of the motors are MOT failures and honestly a acquired but it the 'community' is small so it's hard to get away with curse word like that plus you nick someone's motor n they suss out who it done it the cops would be the last ones to hear about it..... the thief would get what they deserve.People from out of the area stand out making it hard to get away with this kind of dirty low carry on..... I imagine it's so much easier in the south to do this kind of sad curse word

I don't know the answer, but as I've just read on another suggesting going to the event going into the pits and checking cars over including any vin plates.....seriously!!? I'd imagine getting your face caved in,the only people that can do anything is the Essex police to attend in force and check each car, doubt this will happen though

Hi, I'm pretty certain that the cars for regular meetings are sourced conventionally, but it's the classic and one make special events that require them to get 'creative' about sourcing cars that are no longer normally available easily.

As far as the police are concerned there are procedures to follow.
They can only run an Operation at the Arena if the Arena give permission for this to take place as it's private land. If they agreed then fine, however if they didn't agree then they would need a warrant signed by a magistrate. To get a warrant signed, there would need to be credible evidence/intelligence that the cars were stolen and criminal activity was happening.
As far as the media is concerned I have been in contact with my contacts with a well known publication in the scene to get national coverage purely to try and warn Cortina owners to protect themselves from Thefts.

I raced 30 years and never raced 1 nicked motor So you've had the logbooks and id for every car you've raced? I'd be very surprised if he did I used to sell cars to a few banger racers and I'd usually just send the logbook off as scrap. Slagging of all banger racers isn't going to help it's a minority of idiots spoiling it for the rest it might more useful to set up a petition or all contact the arena and try and shame them into action, although I doubt it would do any good classic one make races are a good money maker. This isn't the first cortina race they did a joint capri/cortina race that got over a hundred cars and big crowds

Nope, 9 at least. I got wind of 2 that were nicked last year which weren't shared on Social Media so weren't put into the public eye. The green one is the 3rd Cortina to have been stolen in the Chatham area in 8 days

The trouble is car theft is practically a minor offence my mates father in law is an ex cop he arrested a bloke years ago for nicking 3 cars, this was back in the hot hatch days,he estimated the value to be about 30 grand if he caught him stealing 30 grand cash he'd have 8/10 years cos it was cars he got a fine and a slap on the wrist from the magistrate. They caught him again that day he stole a car to get home from the court

What was I saying about knuckle draggers walking around with starting handles? Well done you, you have now convinced everybody that you are the archetypal banger boy, a well ard geezer. Thanks for offering to ask around about the cars, very public spirited of you to do that, we all appreciate it. I'm also gratified to know that you cant actually curse word read and you are getting your alsation to type while you dictate, unfortunately your dog failed to inform you that I never actually accused you of stealing cars you c*ck wand, obviously, again, you show everybody that you fit the stereotype, we can add as thick as p*g curse word to 'having violent tendencies' to your banger CV. Talk about opening the door and you trying to walk through the adjacent wall. Anyway, I'm glad you have liked your own post, its pretty unlikely anybody else will toyboy (f*ck me, someones curse word?? ) Don't bother sending me a pic of what you look like, I reckon I wont miss you at the Retro show, you will be the one dragging your knuckles along the floor with a face like a baboons a*rse. Tip, you may well be able to outrace me but I will always make you look the tool you are with the written word. See, then pen truly is mightier than the sword.
