More details:
We bought the car for my other half to learn in and it has served its purpose pretty well. It's not without its faults though. When we bought it, the engine management light was on and it has stayed on the whole time. We have tried a few things to fix it, including a full service, a whole new exhaust system (including both O2 sensors and Cat), new HT leads and coil. As long as the car is run daily, it runs quite well, but if left for a few days it misfires and will run rough until it has been given a decent run. This is proving impractical for us, as we lift share to work and often use my car, but we're hoping someone on here can fix it up and get some decent use out of it.
I have checked the engine fault codes and it bringing up P0300 (Mutliple misfire), P0301 (Misfire on cylinder 1) and P0303 (Misfire on cylinder 3). These misfires were not present after it's MOT (after the new O2 sensor), but came back after a few days parked up. If run regularly, they may not be an issue, but I don't want to mislead anyone by saying it will definitely be fine. From our experience though, a couple of days running has previously sorted out the misfire.
We have just put it through an MOT in early December, which it originally failed on emissions (fixed with a new post-cat O2 sensor), a suspension bush and tyres, which were fixed, so the car comes with 11 months MOT.
There are a few little dents and scuffs, but generally it's pretty nice all over. The interior is your usual basic grey and could do with a bit of a clean, but again, nothing too offensive.
Other than that, it's your standard 1 litre Polo. Nice, cheap runaround or great first time car.
