they are not uncommon in Belgium also, for the same reasons I believe.
pug 205 rear light clusters and side repeaters on certain ages of them!

Yep seen them in Belgium, I believe they have to have a 'restricted to 40kph' (or similar) plate on the back.

This one sentence sums up why they are a good idea....
"Well," she says with a shrug, "there are people who would still drive without a licence but they would be in much more powerful, and therefore more dangerous cars."

Those things are more fun than a barrel of monkeys! We have a 2001 Aixam 500SL - powered by a 500cc Kubota diesel driving through a CVT style autobox (just forward, neutral and reverse) - sounds like a dumper truck but handles like a go-kart. Two-door hatchback which is a full four seater with a small luggage area. It'll only do 45mph flat out but it's ideal for around town (park it anywhere as it's 6-inches shorter than a proper mini) and does around 75mpg too. Used as our shopping car and Mrs G uses it for work as well.

I had the opportunity to own one a while ago, but never saw the need. I reckon if the government offered these types of cars with a tax-free/free parking etc incentive?

Voiture sans permis, had a few friends with them when I lived in France, great for getting home from the pub in.

An interesting concept. Beats a scooter when the sleet is coming horizontally direct from the polar region.

I reckon if the government offered these types of cars with a tax-free/free parking etc incentive? Not sure how that would be better than some of the current small cars you can buy... for instance Mrs_pOG's Fiat is £0 tax and congestion charge exempt, and can do a damn sight more than 28mph...
