Well had a late night at the garage last night. Removed the coilovers and sent them off to Paul at prolinx in Wales to have new springs and shocks setup. So the cars looking a bit sorry again. Then set about ticking some small bits off the list. Including the rear alloy inner arch was mated to the carbon floor properly. The front inner arch on the passenger side was completed. Also completed the cut off wring. And started making the strut brace. Also got our sheet bender and guilotene in place. Took some lifting off the truck but all done. Then it made the new sofa a lot nicer to sit on with some chips and a cold beer at about half 9 last night. Before another 2 hour stint on the wiring

Not much to look at photo wise but quite a lot has happened. New starter as the old one was battered from all the trial and error work. Sorted the blowing turbo manifold with a new gasket and some new studs. Shocks are off being setup Some more wiring has been done. And bigger 550cc injectors are in. Starts on the button and runs. Just needs mapping which is booked for the 4th April.

Looking good and I'm now managing to keep up with the thread! i've just got a couple of questions as I'm only 16 and start building my comper in a few months time(scary thought really). how did you mate up the gearbox with the transfer box? are they a simple match up? also what sort of bhp you going to be producing? i assume you'll be staying as a class 3 comper?

Unfortunately not. Making the engine fit the box was a knighmare.
Getting the 350z box to fit the transfer box was also a financial pain. I'm running a rakeway modified lt230 transfer box. So no centre different lock. It's also got no hand brake drum and a shorter front end. So it handles more power then the original is alot lighter and smaller.win around. Except it cost me £1000 To connect the 2 is a custom short prop with 2 pairs of uj's made by Firrow in homes chapel. It can be seen on page 1 of the build thread.
What are you building ?
Personally knowing what I know now I wouldn't of gone this way. The car has taken a lot more time and is currently about £6k over budget !!

And yes class 3. At yer all even with the turbo factor it doesn't even make 3ltrs in the class rulings.
Power wise. Will see on the 4th April.
Should see mid to high 300's

OUCH!!! bet that hurt the pocket! I'm looking at going with a discovery 2 chassis tornado Motorsport frame on top, with king 2.5 coil overs adjustable. engine and gearbox I'm really not sure i was thinking rb25det engine(skyline engine) whit the Nissan patrol gearbox, however i am also looking at going with a 6.5 (vk65de) also mated with a Nissan patrol gearbox, the engine and gearbox are the parts I'm undecided on the most!

It's bloody dave billings fault I'm running this engine and box. It's his old adaptor and box. I've geared this down massively. Lt230 1.66 transfer box and 4.77 diffs at about 7200rpm in 6th it will do 99mph. It's low down grunt we need not high revving power. This turbo will have very much a factory spool etc. Could easily see 450+ hp with a bigger turbo but the power delivery would be useless for way we do. Also spares and parts. These engines are ten a penny. And so are parts etc. So repairing it will hopefully be more straight forward. The abuse these things get is insane.
You would be in class 2 with that engine so there's tons to choose from
Super charged 350z lump like Stuart winters ? Supercharged lexis v8? Reliable and cheap. And have been fitted to lr boxes loads of times.
What axles you running and diffs as they are on the limit at these sort of figures?

I've got so much to update on this thing. It's 98% complete . I've been at the workshop pretty much for out when not at work or being daddy day car during the weekends.
I need to try and find an hour to update this. It's hard though as been doing 11pm finishes after a days normal work and then Fridays till about half 1 Saturday morning as I don't get time at the weekends to work on it.
But bear with me I will get some pictures up

Well got a quick 10 minutes so thought I'd update this. I'll try to keep it to the correct time frame. So much as happened over the past month. Working days then at the workshop till half 10 to 12 at night. Any how. Inner arches needed sorting While the sheet metal was out thought I'd make a quick heat shield for the air filter Then set about the last bits of paint which are the oil cooler bracket and the front bonnet support bar The original bucket seats were a gt width but to be honest being just 11 stone meant I slid around allover the place in them. Plus they were a little snug between the cage and transmission tunnel. So after striking a very good deal on a set of seats from a nice chap in Ireland they were bolted in and felt loaf's better Next up was the last bits of body work that I'd been putting off. The bonnet needed alot of work its made from dylon (sp) A made made it and it's really light and flexible. Perhaps a little to flexible. But it needed vents. So taking some nismo drift style inspiration I set about chopping it up.

Whilst waiting for the bonnet to dry I decided to finally bond on the sides Next up was the arches. I couldn't use standard landrover ones as I'm running discovery 2 axles which are wider. So onto eBay £80 later saw these arrive. They needed trimming to fit but a lick of paint and all was fine. Started to look a bit more like a car at this point. the bonnet was only placed on but the arches are all fitted and sealed in place . The grille frame was made using 20mm alloy angle and them some plastic mesh. Since this picture the alloy frame is now black as it stuck out like a sore thumb. I needed to get the inside finished at this point so some more panel work and the remainder of the wiring and all was sorted. I won't be running any gauges instead a ln 8" tablet connected to a Bluetooth obd2 dongle will allow me to see what's going on.

This is taking me alot longer then I thought. Much like the build of the dam thing. A few power steering pipes were name up by a local lad and all fitted up using the disco 2 steering box and audi pump. Filled it up the night before it was due to be mapped and pop squirt cry shout swear. Box leaked alot. I'm put shaft seal was shagged so managed to get one Wednesday this week and swapped it over. Filled it bled it and adjusted the steering lock stops jobs a good un. Next problem. There's been many. The frame came with castered tubed and strengthened axles and uprated steering bars. How ever something wasn't right the rear drag link bar would drag the front radius arms and diff casing. It turns it the track rod.ends weren't right. So ordered new lemforder track rods and low and behold they don't fit the upgraded bars. A few phone calls later the track rods aren't available separately. So had to order a full new upgraded bar kit. Bloody nightmare. Then it became apparent as the disco 2 hubs can be fitted opposite hand which in turn means a quicker steering response as the where rear drag attaches to the jubilee is 2 and a half inches longer. This means the car is 2.5 turns lock to lock. However fully adjusted I had terrible toe in. So out with the grinder and cut down the new strengthened drag link This was fitted and the tracking set. Bled the pump. Brakes checked the gearbox oil diffs transfer box and engine oil etc. But missed the mapping. However managed to get it booked back in for this coming Tuesday. Last night saw the bonnet hinges made and painted. The dirt shield for the gearbox starter hole. And a few other smaller bits. Still waiting to get the shocks back from prolinx which I'm hoping will be here early next week. I'll try to keep things upto date from now on
