Bit of a catch up from the past week. Fitted the flywheel spacer, flywheel, clutch and cover. Then offered up the gearbox ad mounted it to the engine. We then hit a problem yet again. As we have milled 7mm off the adaptor plate the rear gearbox mount was now 7mm away from fitting. So I ended up chopping that to bits and altering that. Quick link of paint and offered it up. Then was a matter of fitting the at rater and wiring etc. The starter will be used to trial run the engine this week then after that I'll get a new one as this old girl has been through the wars with building this car. So it might find its way out to a plaque on the wall. Lol. Got thew ecu fitted in place and topped up the gearbox oil. Measured up for the propshafts. Rear prop is tiny only about 340mm long front on the other hand is about 1400mm so will need a centre support bearing. Any how have some pictures so show some progress. Also had issues with the master cylinder not operating the slave cylinder for the clutch. Alot of head Scratching lead us to the conclusion that the altered landrover pedlar box was the issue. So out with the grinder some 5mmm thick steel bar and a welder sorted it all.

BORING UPDATE ALERT
no pictures and not much of an exciting update hut tonight we finally got the car all bolted together to the point where we have managed to start the car and run it through the gears. I'm pleased to say it now starts runs and goes into all 6 gears and reverse. Propshafts will be ready mid next week so it's getting there So jobs a good 'un' and it's beer time. Can now get cracking on with the rest of the build which I will get some pictures of to keep toy all interested.
But for now I'm sat with my feet up and have a cold beer.

No update on the racer I'm afraid. I've been bad since Saturday with a chest infection. It's even worse then man flu! !! Which meant the wife had had to prep her 205 gti ready for her 12 car road rally tonight. I managed to drag myself off the settee to see her off earlier tonight. Anyhow a quick picture

Any info on the remote selector? Had a quick look online and 350z remote selector seems to be out to the back of the box but you have flipped forward, did you need to make many mods for this? I have been looking for a possible solution like this for my rx8 6 speed box to move the selector forward cheers

I'll get some better pictures once we make a neater version of it. It worked out quite simple in the end. We just flipped the mount around. Made a frame to get it to fit the box. Then connected it with a bar. This will be termed and made to look a bit nicer very soon. I'll get some pictures taken.
Oh the only other thing we did was rotate the selector plate under the rubber cover to the gates were in the right order.
Honestly we had no idea if it would work hence why we did I rough version first.

Well back to feeling better. So thought I'd tidy the garage and make another list. Men like lists it makes us feel like we have achieved something. I've got dates for the mapping and dates to weigh the car and then a time frame for having the shocks rebuild so it's all stations are go. No doubt there will be more to add. Though if 3 more since writing it. Thought I'd put the windscreen surround in place to see the colour contrast. Still needs a flat and polish but you get the idea

T it was time for an update. Quite abit has been going on but not had chance to catch up. First was the clutch pedal wouldn't give enough travel to move the slave cyinder so that needed modifying. I have a very particulate driving position for this car so the pedlas needed to be just so. It looks a bit odd but works spot on. Then I swapped out he clutch line form the tinner bradided hose to the thicker stuff as I stupidly made it from the left over pipe when I didi the brakes. Then it was a matter of clipping and securing all cables and lines etc, as these cars go through some serious hammer. I then needed to reposition the fiddle brakes and complete all of the brake lines and bleed that and the clutch for the final time.Bleeding the fiddles was a bit of a knighmare to be honest but using the pressure bleeder it was quite straight forward. we then hit another snag as now the panel work was fitted getting to the seat mounts was a knighmare so this has menat a redsign of the transmission tunnel, this is on the cards for next week now. I then set about building most of the car back up for the last time. some bits have been loose fitted as I needed to get the car weighed and the shocks sent off for setting up. (this is where we are upto now, shocks off and on there way The new propshafts arrived form Firrow in Holmes Chapel, great service price and product. the rear prop is very very short anout 325mm. the front how ever is a monster. The heated front screen was fitted and the panel work more or less compelted externally. the elelctonic cut of switched have now been wired. using a winch solenoid a relay and some nice switches, a lot cheaper then the alternative kits and much better then the big red cut off keys In other news I lost a week or so preparing the new unit for the arrive of the car. Ive now got a nice clean well lit unit which me an 2 mates share. I collected and fitted a 3500kg 2 post lift and got the lighting and flooring sorted. its 1000 sq foot and then about 350 sq foot above with a storage area and brew/beer room I'm now hoping things can move along at a better speed.

Got to admit I'm still taking it in. Just been down tonight for a bit. It makes things a hell of a lot easier to work on,having the space and lift. I'll keep his thread a bit more upto date over the next few weeks
