I work for oval race track Buxton Raceway and we have this class of racing using mainly old Fords and the odd Rover SD1 called Super Bangers, they have been going for many many years. They are not the sort of Bangers you might see elsewhere at other tracks, these are far from ex road cars now, due to the heavy construction of them. The cars are all plated up using heavy gauge steel sheet much like a Skip! the lower body and mainly the wings and arches are especially beefed up to survive a knock or two, in fact I was thinking that the guy Leepu from tv's Chop Shop would be able to make one, its kinda his style! an exagerated, mutated kind of look. They are nearly all powered by Ford V6 lumps and some have Rover V8 power, the Focus thats in the pics was a front engined rear drive Rover V8, with the driver sat on top of the tunnel. You don't get a lot of the heavy hitting contact in this formula, cos although the cars are built to last they arent easily straightened out after a big hit. anyway, heres some pics and incidentally, we have a meeting this weekend 15th November featuring them - see www.buxtonraceway.com what can you spot in there then?

Could be Iveco, tbh I wasn't listening properly, pretty sure he said transit for the ratios, he might have had hub conversion done to suit the wheels, its easier to alter the hub to suit a wheel as people like different offsets on different corners

Never seen these before, do they race anywhere else?
Get a steady supply of National Banger meets at Foxhall on the tarmac, with the occasional unlimited meeting. It tends to be more race orientated at Foxhall, Lynn, Mildenhall and Arena Essex are the meetings to see some unlimited anarchy.

I race these, they are great fun! I race the red and gold Capri! I believe this formula only races at Buxton now, but they used to have superbangers at arena Essex and also at warton in morcombe! If you like classic fords/cars you will like this formula!

More recent pictures, Copey again looking rough around the edges, he has since painted it in the same colours, looks smart. Ford Scorpio? RWD, V8 powered Focus. I'm not sure I would be comfortable straddling the trans tunnel. Is that your car in the background Jakeyblue?

Yes, well it's my dads car, (I race it under the number 31) the focus was my brother in laws but will have a new owner on the new season ? My brother in law now owns the black n green Sierra from above!
