1980 Vauxhall Royale Coupe Update-Latest - Problems!!

Sorry for the delay!!
Got the Royale up and running and used it up until January (took it off the road when MOT ran out). Drives really well and very quick for an old motor. Initially it would not change up into 4th (the engine and box are out of a later Monza) as the box needed a signal from the electronic speedo - unfortunately mine is an old mechanical speedo. Good advice from members of Autobahnstormers soon got it changing up (just connect a wire to live).
Used it back and forth to work-had a problem with it dying out now and again-think it's fixed now. Changed pump, filter and air flow meter.
Will need a little welding for the mot. Have cleaned and painted the inner wheel arches and suspension.





Aim is to use my Senator for 6 months then the Royale over winter.

Still very underrated cars-I've had Granadas and SD1's and the Senator/Royale is a much better car (in my opinion).

Last year at Malvern there was a ropey 3500 SD1 up for £4000.

I bought the Senator last year for £600 complete with 4 spare doors (ebay £150 each) and a spare wing (ebay £295).

Had to put a new camshaft in-cost about £200 all in to change. Car has only done 62000 miles and drives superbly-very refined-smooth and quiet!

Bought the Royale for £900 2 years ago-it had the original 2.8 carb engine replaced with a later Monza 3.0i and 4 speed auto. It absolutely flies! Nowhere near as refined as the Senator though.

Only issues with both is poor heater output in the winter-was bloody cold Friday.

I'm going to try an inline pump in the heater pipe to try and improve it.
