Sadly it was time to empty my Grandparents house the past weekend. However making these sentimental finds made the tough last few weeks a bit better so i thought i would share.... Can anyone identify this bag? It has D W on the top and is very well made... I also found this SU carburettor This Wood Milne foot pump is superb although it's missing a few bits Also found this little spanner... the left combination spanner is 17/19mm for reference Hope it's of interest to some... Regards, Matt

Is that spanner really labelled 'king dick'? *n

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Possibly DeWalt maybe? Just guessing with the DW you mention. DeWalt has been around since the mid 1920's, so defo old enough company to fit the time scale.

Hi, leather tool bag, clean with warm soapy water then hide food every couple of days. The 'D.W.' is probably the owners initials, Dewalt is a name change from Black and Decker. The carb is an HS semi down draught, depending on the size as to whether it's an HS1 or 2 The number relates to everyone/8" over 1", probably mini or minor. The foot pump I have not heard of before but probably works on the same principle as the Aerite ones. The spanner is a BSF/Whitworth.

I reckon that leather bag is a bowls bag. My folks have vintage sets and their bags are very similar.

I'm picking that carb to be an HS2 as fitted to the Mini 850 and probably everything else that had an 850 A series.

I've got a small adjustable King Dick...
There's a little tag under one of the float chamber screws on that SU. On it will be a spec number which will tell you what it was originally fitted to.

Did he have history as a bus mechanic? Those exact scanners were used everywhere on the buses I worked on at Alder Valley in the 80's?

SmokeEm ahh, another bus mechanic. I was at London Country in the late 70s early 80s. Colin I only did the 1st year of a 4yr apprenticeship before going into cars again for a while. Remember my favourite job was relining the brake shoes on the rivet machine. Every Friday, all the mechanics would have a takeaway curry from the local Indian and we would all sit in one of the buses and eat with plastic forks. That was back in 1986

Thanks for all the replies , i found a makers name on the bag ( S E Norris & Co) and it turns out it's a WW2 ammunition bag! He didn't work on buses as far as i know. I thought the carburettor was from a mini as he and my great grandad had various mini's. Regards, Matt

Cool finds. I have a King Dick Girder adjustable in my class room, that is of the same type that was in the tool boxes fitted to early Silver Shadows and Bentley T-series.
