Very interesting place, especially from the distance of the western US. It's like a scrap yard from a different planet, in that we got very few of the cars pictured in this country. That Fiat 850 Coupe should be saved immediately! Having saved one before, I've a soft spot for them... That Alfa 75 also raises my loins, as that's my current retro-ride. They're rarely seen on the road here, but they're around for anyone looking to buy one.

Makes me wonder what someone from NZ, or Europe might find interesting in the dwindling vintage scrapyards of the western US? Japanese cars like the old Z-Car are plentiful here for their age. I know of a handful of them in local scrapyards and under car ports where I live. This site has helped me understand that the Z-Car is a rare breed abroad, and a worthy retro-ride. The same could be said for the early Celica. I recently saw a row of early 60's Ford Thunderbirds lined up at a vintage scrapyard in a similar state to the cars pictured above. Despite my consistent taste for Eurocars, the sight of them commanded respect.

For anyone desperate for some kind of part that just doesn't exist where you're at, I like the idea of a foreign exchange of sorts. A Fiat Uno Turbo cylinder head for an x/19 project isn't going to come from the US, but maybe...

I went there in 2012, really amazing place and yes you can just wander about (i think you have to stick a couple of dollars in a pot)
