Hi! I got a free BRIDE race bucket from Japan, but it was involved in some sort of unfortunate manouvre which caused it to crack (the car looks worse, trust me!). which in turn means, it's, as it stands now, not usable - not even as an office chair.  Could this be repaired safely? Or am I better of discarding it and use the rails for something else? Many thanks! Cheers, Jan |

I'd say it depends on whether it's made from common-or-garden GRP, something more exotic, or some injection-moulded plastic. I've no idea of how these are constructed.
For a properly strong repair you'll need to lay-up from both sides. Can you get the fabric off and returned after the repair?
It also depends on how cosmetically perfect you want it to be finished. Any GRP repair is likely to end up with the seat thicker at the repair area, so you may have the think about the appearance of that exposed back.

I have GRP buckets in my Marlin and would be happy to repair them if similarly damaged. Treat as GPR car bodywork - clean out crack, chamfer edges and build up from the inside then use surface tissue to tidy outer visible area.
I wouldn't risk it in a competition car though but OK for a road vehicle of use as a home / workshop chair.

it does look simular to a magnum seat, maybe identicle i don't know but, they are £250 a pair i think new?

i'd use an expoxy resin rather than regular polyester resin for a repair like that. use a few layers of thin biaxial cloth on the inside and feather the crack out on the outside then build up the repair on the outside with tissue to level it.
