The only real answer when faced with such agony of indecision just has to be 'both':-) Cheers Matt I'd have to agree! I have a couple of Minis that need restoring, and a load of spares from previous Minis, so you'd think I'd go for the Cooper, but like carledo said, how likely are you to find another Marcos? Having said that, I'd still try to find some way to have both (greedy monkey syndrome!)

Another boring Mini? YAWN.........
A Marcos eh? Now that's a bit more unusual and far more interesting than yet another.......... boring.......... Mini..............YAWN
(Disclaimer: clearly I'm no fan of Minis but that's not to say they're all bad, project Binky for example.....)

I think you win the internet. Made me laugh pretty hard. I aim to please... P. Remember how you were kidding? ...turns out I have developed a Porsche problem following Mystery Machine staying at my place...and am about to buy another bargain basement Porsche..of the '74 911 flavour from down the road (no literally, it's down the road...like the 912 was...) For $1000. I imagine this is sumpcracker right now. and possibly Clement...soooo ...to clarify...the seller decided to keep the Austin Cooper (called him today). The Marcos is a big project, but if you want the details HoTWire let me know...could always bolt an LS engine into it..or just leave one in the container...you know...for kicks?

This is a project I cannot wait to see unfold. You definitely seem to have a knack for unearthing cheap motors your side of the pond. Even Porsches. I missed this thread first time around otherwise I'd have suggested a certain Land Rover in Guelf. Or another Porsche. Glad you did the latter. Was it the constant reminder from the metal wall hanging I left you? Looking forward to more pics and details. (Having already seen one tiny photo)

On another note i know a farmer who had a v8 Marcos . When i say had i mean it was a USAF pilots that was stored at his farm . The pilot didnt pay anything for storage for 3 years and had gone back to the states so the farmer CUT the engine out and CUT up the rest and burnt it !!! Sold the engine ..
I really have a problem with farmers .

You procured a 911 for under a grand? Nice! I'm really happy for you! (lol, honestly though, I am stoked to see how this pans out...)

Want to be even more jealous? That price is Canadian dollars, so £500/€690!!! What the actual fug However in my mind I can justify that because this is what I think it looks like So therefore if it's anything better I'm just gonna celebrate Here you go. Picked it up today. It's complete bar the targa roof and the front fenders. Well..first off...Works has a new puppy! As picked up. Floors are solid bar a couple of patches. The kidney bowls, inner and outer rockers need total replacement. Filled the truck with the rest of it...engine (complete), transmission, 4 doors, all the glass...everything bar gauges and interior. Dicking around at the shop with the spare doors. And lastly, the reason I bought it. So to summarise, it's a bit of a dog, but it's a matching numbers 911...from 1974. And...$1000. And a Targa. Its by no means in as good nick as the 912 that Mystery Machine bought from me, but it has an engine...a gearbox...oil lines..brakes..suspension...glass..you get my drift. Very much a long term project to sit under tarps for a while. I do, after all, have a Datsun to finish.

So slightly better than I had as an image in my mind, has it been in an accident?

At least you know exactly what state it's in under the skin, with it actually lacking its skin Not a straightforward job but quite an exciting one to follow nonetheless!!

So slightly better than I had as an image in my mind, has it been in an accident? Nope. Straight, clear title just spent too much time sitting outside. II did have the option of buying a front end shunted targa shell with it but I think I'll pass. Easier to go with new steel.

More pictures of the works puppy.
That 911 will keep you busy for a while, looks like it's been left outside for a few winters.
