I had four of these , all new , back in the day starting with a 1.6L and finishing with an SRi . I was fortunate to have had many company cars but I loved the Mk2's and travelled galactic miles in them. Nice to see one getting saved and used , well done . Here's my first , the 1.6L . I think it was five months old at this point of it's all too short life .............. That's a shame about the 1.6. I really like the early cars but they're becoming quite scarce now. Ricky180b - nice choice of white Sri saloon. Another rare combination.

Took it out for first time since fitting new engine and popped in to see a mate who also has a mk2 Fitted a lower front valance with fog lights and a later grille which you can just see in this photo It ran ok but there were a few puffs of blue smoke whilst accelerating so think the bottom end will need attention soon. So, took the engine out and popped the old 1.6 back in but have it running on the 1.8's fuel injection which seems to be going ok. It will keep it mobile until I get round to sorting the 1.8 out. That's pretty much me up to date with this car and I'll try to post as and when I make progress. Thanks for looking. Loving the Cav. They're a great car. I had a F plate 1.6 LX hatch, it was so comfy and went really well. What's the score with the Avenger in the pics? Also, you're not in Milford Haven are you? There's a guy in Milford who has had a few Mk2 cavs including a black CD like yours? Will

Hi Will. Thanks for comment.
LX were good cars. I had one but it was pretty rotten so it got stripped for spares.
The only car in those photos that belongs to me is the silver hatch. The cavalier saloon and avengers belong to a mate and his dad. They've got a few nice old cars between them.
I'm in Scotland. The CD in my profile was also rotten but a lot of that car will find its way onto the silver hatch which was originally an auto in L spec but is very solid.
I've not made any progress on the car since last post due to moving house. It's tucked away safely in the new garage which I've started insulating and lining. I need to finish building a shed to get the garage clear of the non car things currently in it then I can get cracked on.

I don't have the box mate. No one was looking for one at the time so it ended up in the scrappies when I cleared my workshop.

Never paid a massive amount of attention to this generation Cav, but I love what you've done with yours, it looks just right!

Great looking car. When the time comes for the restoration and respray are you sticking with the silver? I always thought they looked very nice two-toned, with a darker bottom below the trim line.

My car is probably in the least desired spec but I've used a few bits from better spec'd Cavaliers and I think as you said it looks just right.

Thanks. Yeah it will be resprayed in its original colour but I have thought about painting the lower half anthracite as per the Sri models. The lower front spoiler is already in that colour and I quite like the contrast but not convinced I'll do it as I don't want it to be seen as an Sri replica if that makes sense? I will paint the tops of the doors and the door shuts in anthracite though as the better spec'd cars had this and it leaves a better finish I think.

Small update for this old Cavalier. It's sat pretty much untouched in my garage since the last time I posted over a year ago. It was running and only needed a few minor things to sort out for an mot so I dug it out earlier this week and did the work and today it passed with no advisories. There's still a few things to do to get it how I want but I have all the parts I need and now it's road legal I'm more likely to pull my finger out and get it done. I'll update with better pictures when I take it out and make progress.

Love the cav mk2, had 3 back in the day. A Yreg sri, D reg sri130 and an E reg sri 130. Would love another 130. Brilliant car and drive. The day I picked my 130 up in 1993.

That 130 looks great. Unfortunately they're getting very hard to find now in any condition.
