Hello peeps
No not me, I don't, or at least so's I get caught but a mate has.
He's a reet lucky curse word and skipped a ban last year, the judge sent him away with a flea in his ear and a warning that if he did it again he'd get 18 months min.
so he did.
Some people never learn.
Anyway 14 days later (today) and no NIP or owt. Is this actually TEH RULZ or just urban hopefullness.

I think its 28 days now.Ask to see when the equipment was last calibrated aswell as other awkward questions and your mate might get lucky.

just been checking. He was stopped by the cops themselves so the NIP is issued verbally at the scene. 60 in a 30 zone, tbh no defense and pretty inexcusable especially once on a warning with a full license.

I guess he could ask the question about calibration. Obviously, normally if you do this you risk getting the book thrown at you for cheek should you be convicted but since he's going to get everything anyway due to his past history, maybe he's got nothing to loose...
Just sitting here looking at my clean since 1984 license...mmmm, lovely. Not entirely sure how I've managed it though.

ditto. Are we lucky or genuinely better drivers?
I remember one time talking to a motorway patrolman about his job. One of the things he said was if he sees a speeding car and as he comes up on it and the guy brakes and slows down he won;t pull him, because the guy is obviously usiung his mirrors and unless he's really speeding by a lot he's more bothered that you are paying attention and driving safelty than obeying the limit.
So all those times I saw the cop and braked - maybe the cop thought "ah well, he;s paying attention".
Or maybe I'm just lucky and they were looking the other way at the time.

My licence is still clean too - but then I'm not stupid enough to do twice the speed limit in a 30 zone. Sorry but if you drive like an idiot, you deserve what you get.

my mate got caught drink driving, banned for 20 months and a hefty fine IIRC, didnt bother him though, he carried on driving, bought a bloody c20xe corsa, drove that like an absolute knob all the time, even broke the driveshaft at one point, did more drink driving, never got caught again. he also drives a works van, without a license.
lcuky git, although a might prick for drink driving, was dying for him to get caught again to teach him

I have a friend who was stopped by a cop with a radar gun. The cop informed him he'd been doing 70 in a 40 zone. To which he burst out laughing. The cop didn't think it was funny and started getting all @rsey with him, to which my friend popped both bonnet catches on his Herald and showed him the 948cc engine, informing the cop that Herald 948s couldnt do that when they were new and this one was 40 years old. (It's true, my 948 wouldn't do more than 65 at Bruntingthorpe). So the cop had to rip up an entire morning's worth of speeding tickets. Thus it's worth pursuing the calibration issue.
As it happens the Herald had the standard oscillating speedo issue so was doing 40-60-40-60 so my friend estimated he was doing about 50.

Nothing novel about people like that, loads round here that think nothing of downing 10 pints then getting into a big white van with ladder racks at 11pm, still on a ban from last time, no insurance etc etc and they wonder why they keep getting pulled and into more hot water, cars confiscated, prison stretches etc. They`re just fodder for the cops, if they make it one night they wont the next. prats. I know one lad who keeps buying £100 wrecks, gets pulled, does 6 months in the big house, comes out, buys a £100 car, gets pulled, goes back inside and so the cycle continues. One or two have asked him whats so bad about catching a bus or maybe getting a bike but he seems to think its worth it. The buffoon.

at the risk of sounding like a communist, the problem is for a lot of people they don;t see any better life option available to them. To some people prison is actually nicer than where they live, and many of their mates and family will be in side anyway... The trick is to make life seem more worth while if you keep out of bother. For a lot of people it just isn't worth the effort of "straightening up and flying right"

That thought had occured to me, I bet once you`ve been inside for the first time it gets a lot easier, and a lot less of a deterrent.
