Cool Skyline there mate! Aren't these RWD only? It's nice to see you aren't modifying it too much, if only because it's going to stand out a lot I'd love to know why the gearknob goes missing during the import. This seems utterly random but I'm sure there's a good reason for it...

Thanks, yes these are RWD only. Although if you pull the right fuse out you can make the GTR's the same The internal's can handle upto 500-600bhp reliably if you are that way inclined, of course that's always up for debate. The gearknobs go missing because there are some degenerates at the port who will take anything that isn't nailed down and can fit in their pockets. As they usually arrive on Ro-Ro boats someone needs to get in and drive it off it gives them time to do it, ontop of that the gearknobs just unskrew. Still someone got £10 out of their thievery!

Disaster, I was driving on the A27 when the first of the storms came in and a loud crack and then I had lost half my wind deflector Teach me for not being quick enough on getting the foam tape required to glue down the end which the gust caught. After relieving my wallet of a sizeable chunk of money I managed to source another two to replace my missing one (and now I have a spare). I'd also found the wrong thing when looking as Hobbycraft and Maplins did not seem to have the right stuff. The only one I'd found was £80 from 3M, in hindsight this would've been a bargain compared to the wind deflectors but oh well. Other than that nothing really much happens with me as I keep it OEM. The car continues to amaze me for such an old (to me) car, it really does go well even compared to modern stuff. It's also been returning an average of 23.7mpg on vpower optimax juice which I think is fantastic for the performance on offer

I just looked and in 12months I did just under 10,000 miles in my Skyline. Which is about four times what it ever did in Japan! I've had to replace the battery and that's been in other than usual servicing & tyres. I've re-attached the broken wind deflector, it was £90 to get a new one and that was with mates rates. ouch!!! Still I got a pair for that so it's not too bad. It was a pain to get it back on and despite copious amounts of tape to hold it on the wind deflector sat too high, so I doubled up the tape and now it's fine apart from one tiny hole somewhere so when it rains I get one stream coming down the drivers window and not on the other window. With this symmetry ruined my OCD eye twitching begins and I will be sticking tiny strips to plug the gap this weekend. I've also made the HICAS work abit better (Super HICAS is the four-wheel steering system in the R33). With a speed converter it can get mixed messages and not work properly which has been fixed by "relocating" the speed converter. (Unfortunately in the process I've stopped the odo from working and have duefully been keeping notes of all my trips so I can add it on when I fix it.) If you have a hunt you will find an apparent 50/50 on whether HICAS is a good thing or not. This is rubbish most people hate it, but then I think its because of two things - 1. you have to adapt your driving style and 2. everyone is not Senna. As mine is electronically controlled I have Super HICAS which will try and understand your "intentions" when driving and turn the rear wheels accordingly, this means you have to drive in a smooth & predictable manner otherwise it's going to get confused. I can do this because 1. I like to get the best out of my cars and 2. I am not trying to be Senna and drive somewhat slower. The only time it's been a problem is on a cold night and I got greedy with 2nd outside Kingsworthy and the back went "ME FIRST!!!!" Fortunately with me driving slowly and the quietness of the roads I got it under control with only abit of the velour sucked against my trousers To do it though there was some sawing at the wheel, this is down to the HICAS trying to snap me back onto line and me trying to naturally correct it (instinct took over), but it perfectly demonstrates why people don't get on with it and also if you are going to track your Skyline you need to take it off! If you want more info on HICAS here's a much better write up: Detailed HICAS description In other news my current target for 2016 is to get the adaptive aero working, my Skyline is very rare having this moveable aero attached to the front. The English manual I have says that it can be held down/up or be left automatically (it will come up at 55kph and drop back down when you're under it again). Mine is slightly broken but only slightly, right now it will go up and down as the buttons are pressed with the handbrake on. [Electrics: check] But whenever I take the handbrake off it will come up straight away [Ronsel test: fail] reading more into it my "Down" button on the dash seems to be broken and it should 'click' to keep it down. I will have a test of the electrics and probably play 'hunt the obscure switch from Japan' game. Fortunately for me my importer has just opened a parts desk and says they will try to find anything. Poor them, they've probably not met many people who keep their R33's standard, let alone a GTST. Still will be a good test for them Here's the spoiler in action; el button up down up down up maybe it's not working because I play with it too much?
