The latest acquisition to the RetroWarwick fleet. Been after "something" for a while, just looking around and waiting for the right model to pop up. Not fussy but had to have the right look and style. Had to be unusual, not not your regular vespa/lambretta stuff.... This is a ManuRhin which is a French 75cc twist and go (no gears) step through scooter which started production in the late 50's. French you say...thats means merde build quality then? Non Non these are Auto Union/DKW scooters built under licence so much better designed than the stuff the italians were churning out. Having owned a NSU Prima which is a german built Lambretta, much better....... ManuRhin stands for MANUfactured in the RHINe. The jury's out on whether to go full resto or just do a frame/wheel/running gear resto and ankor wax the out panels to preserve the patina.

I'd say a mechanical resto and you can always go back to the panels if you want later. Safety first and all that As I currently have 100% of the votes, what I say goes. p.s. nice decal, shame it's a bit too far gone. Get a replica made?

Firstly...... I love your search criteria.
Secondly..... Love it.
Thirdly..... Want (obviously)
Fourth.... Etc, Etc...
Anyway, I agree, mechanical overhaul so you can use it.
BUT.... Keep the paint and patina, surely it has earned its stripes over the years.
Lovely thing.

This is a version of the DKW Hobby scooter built under licence by Manurhin, a French gun manufacturer. The company started building the Hobby back in 1956 under the name of the Manurhin MR75, known as the Concord in the UK. The Manurhin scooter models are apparently among the first motorcycles to have used powder coating paint techniques.
Bonhams review of the Manurhin:
French armaments firm Manufacture du Haut-Rhin began producing the German DKW Hobby scooter in 1956, using a proportion of French-made parts. Manhurin’s MR75 (marketed as the Concord in the UK) was constructed to a high standard and must have been one of the first motorcycles to be painted electrostatically, a process commonly known as powder coating. When DKW ceased production of the Hobby, Manurhin continued with its version, which in 1957 occupied third place in the European scooter sales chart behind Lambretta and Vespa.

Scoot is collected. Currently in the back of the mondeo. Photos later. Looks like part of the clutch/cvt/belt drive mechanism is missing but parts are available on ebaT.

Please please please do not get rid of the patina! With such a big body I assume there is plenty of room for a bigger, more modern lump in there. Perhaps some modern forks could be adapted to suit it, giving you modern disc breaks too?

Ripping out the engine, gearbox and brakes sounds worse than repainting it to be fair.
The beltomatic cvt gearbox is the first installation of the "twist and go" format of all modern scooters. Designed by DKW (which was part of Auto Union) back in the early 50's.
I've got hold of a bike lift so will start stripping the bike this weekend. Need to get it down to the bare framw to get the chassis number anyway.

What is the red scooter in the very first picture?
I would be sympathetic in my overhaul, trying to keep it as original as possible, sticking a modern engine and brakes in it will make it more reliable... but thats not what its about is it?
very best of luck with the recommissioning adventure RW

What looks right is not necessarily right, but what looks wrong is definitely not right!

Ive got the same problem on my little cimatti. Tried plus gas, coke diesel and heat in it over the last 8 months, still couldnt free it. Broke the piston and tried to drift it out, still wont move.
Good luck with it.

once day i heat up the barrel with a blowtorch to the point where the thin oil in the chamber boils. I'm also putting oil into the exhaust port and heating it up. hopefully the temp cycling will loosen it.
